I was having a few problems with some games yesterday and this one I had no idea had a problem until I actually stood and watched the screen during attract mode.
Anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this?

Try swapping RAM0-RAM3 around and see if the problem changes - you may have a bad 6116 SRAM (RAM 0 and RAM1 are low standby power versions). Did you try the memory check in test mode?

I've been trying to get my deck sealed. Meant to work on Qbert past couple days. Have to pull it out from the wall and see what's going on.
Figured I may as well take some advantage of this drought.

I think I had this problem before, and I had to reset the hiscore table (I cant' even remember how that is accomplished)... to fix it. I dont' know what caused it, but try resetting your score table and see if that gets everything back how it should be.

The high score table can get corrupted from low voltage. Qbert also has a tendency to corrupt the high score table when the machine is switched on along with several machines via power strip or breaker.

Qbert is so weird. It would always have problems resetting if I had it come on with the rest of the games. So I've since had to always come over and power the switch on top just for that single unit.
Maybe I didn't notice it corrupted this high score table before. But it does reset occasionally.
I'll open it up today.

Ok, opened her up. Found my +5v at 3.77. Bumped the pot up to max - all the way counter clockwise and now have 4.76 when attract running. When attract stops I get a straight +5v at the pcb.
Probably needs a ps rebuild kit.

I then checked Ram and Rom - everything peachy. Reset HS table and Factory Presets. The screen looks great now. Hopefully the periodic oddball resets will stop now with voltages correct. Thanks man.

That completes that weekends problems with games going down - however I have one last one that I have no utter idea what the problem could be - and that's with Donkey Kong audio noises beeping and blipping and playing it's music at random after it warms up for about an hour.

Its not uncommon to not be able to achieve a full 5v on the main board even with the pot all the way up. However, if the power supply has not been rebuilt it should be.

So who sells these Qbert ps rebuild kits anyways? And please don't say BR. I like fast, quick credit card services and shipping.

Well, good. Pretty sure, with it being adjusted all the way high, it needs a new rebuild. Riptors done me good on a pacman repair and various parts orders before.

+1

He has helped me fix a Galaxian and let me use his station. His prices are fair and he is willing to help with part numbers and sizes.
