Hi
I was searching on-line for a value for my Q-bert machine and was directed to this site.
I am moving soon and not for sure I can take the machine so was looking for a value in case it has to be put up for sale.

I did not see a section for machine values, so I will post here. Moderators, feel free to move if in wrong catagory.

Now about the machine..

I bought this machine brand new in about '84? It's always been in the house for home use only. As a matter of fact I would be suprised if it had over 100 plays on it.

Is there any game counter on it anywhere to confirm this?

I have all books/manuals,keys,etc. that came with the game new.

The machine looks good and plays like new.

If I end up having to sell, members of this forum will have first shot.

thanks

Hi and welcome, where are you located at? The last game i saw without the coin doors was a mellow yellow machine. I'll let others chime in on prices.

looks pretty good, but what happened to the coin door?

If it was bought for home use, then maybe it was sold slightly cheaper w/o license for coin op use? If so, that would explain the blank coin door.

Btw, nice machine! The next owner is a very lucky person.

I thought about the same thing, even If I got it I would slap on a Gottlieb Coin door::

That's what most people are familiar with. Most people in the hobby if you use the ":HUO" or Home Use Only it appeals to people because generally it wasn't abused, likely doesn't need to be restored etc.. Game came out in 82', If the knocker works, the boards are clean, no water damage or any other significant issues especially if it is legit HUO I would say you can easily start a bidding war in this thread. I'm in the market for a Q*Bert. But before making any type of an offer it's best to include pics of the interior, as well as the game working, take photos of the game on with the camera flash off.

With all that being said, you are a brand new member do you have any other such as an ebay account so other users can see your feedback ?

With all that being said I think most people want to know is this game going to cost them extra to ship it or are you local to someone. Trust me that game will certainly be gone within a few days.

So who's going to start the bidding war ?

While this is not my offer I would value the game around $750.00+/-, Others can chime in. While you can get this game for decent condition probably 450-650 +/- on KLOV from other collectors granted it's not HUO but working all the way a players game, ebay.. usually 550-750, and some people think they are made out of solid gold apparently list them for unrealistic numbers. Condition is king.

You can click on http://www.arcade-classics.com/exidy_arcade_price_guide.html this price guide from another member but I actually think Jon's prices need to be re-evaluated $350-$450, sounds a bit on the low side for a Q*Bert. In addition to other titles on that list, some are spot on others are off IMO. I'm not sure how often Jon / eXidy revises the price list but gas changes etc.. And needs to be adjusted accordingly. I mean look at the pinball craze right now, Pinside price guide is also too low IMO on most games. Again though he does state "Some of you may not agree with my prices, but I dont give a shit. These are actual prices ive seen with my own eyes or actual prices ive received on stuff." But again, I've seen gas for 1.95 a gallon, 10 years ago.. Today $4.15 in my area.

Just for a price comparison, I bought my Q*Bert about a year and a half ago for $400. Fully working, art a bit more worn than this one, but still complete and pretty nice.

But then, KLOV people tend to find the good prices for games. I'd say yours is worth a little more than that here, while you might get more like the $750 someone else mentioned if you sold it on eBay. But eBay is tricky - you might get less than you get here.

If you can hold out until November, Q*Bert is in that new Disney movie, Wreck-it Ralph (or at least he's in the trailer). Might spur on interest and jack up the price for you. I know the price of Trons went through the roof when Tron: Legacy came out.

I wouldn't take less than $1000 on that. There are plenty of collectors that will pay it, if you are not in a rush you will find a buyer at that price. Shoot me a pm if you want more info, I might have a buyer depending on where you are located....

And now you see it's starting to become a bidding war. Just as I predicted. As Steve Miller Band would say "Go on and take the money and run".

When do you plan on moving ? Or when will you know If you end up having to sell, And again others would appreciate it if you would list the games location ?

I sent the OP a PM but never got back to me, and hasn't responded back to this thread. It looks as though as of now he's just fishing for a "Potential" buyer, and that's if he decides to sell the machine. Then again he might not be addicted to KLOV yet being that he only has 1 post.

I saw too much of:
Incase, If, Not for sure...

IMO A FS Thread / Section should be just that an item for sale with a predetermined price.

That's what I was thinking. Q*bert is a tough find in nice and working condition. $1000 seems about right for this one.

Just chiming in but the bottom sides look pretty grungy for an "always been in the house for home use only" machine. Nice shape regardless but what's going on in that house for all the lower cabinet grubbiness?

Agree. Not super pristine, but very very nice. I'm sure nothing a magic eraser couldn't take care of in a few minutes.
