I turned on a row of games an hour ago, and noticed that Q*bert was in test mode. I opened the coin door, switched the little lever, but nothing. Pushed 'Select', and nothing. Anybody else have had this problem before? How is it rectified? Thanks for any help!

Is it a bootleg PCB?
If so you may have a broken wire or switch

Pin 8B needs to be grounded to get into game mode

I had the exact same problem.
Turns out that the power supply needed some love.
I'd start there first.
Riptor has a rebuild kit for the Qbert power supply for $28.
Worked for me.

check to make sure pin 1 of a3 on the power supply is grounded well, these feeds the test switch.

then check pin 13 of b11 to see if high or low, if low, and going into test, then ic at b11 is bad, if high then you have a issue between the pin 1 of the power supply, to to the switch, and the switch to the pcb.

check the filter board, etc.

i been working on a qbert the last few days, it was 100% dead, and so far the board is up, and have video, im going to tackle the sound section next.

Check the connections on the test switch - something might have come loose. That would probably be the easiest explanation.

This happens quite often. On most games the test switch is normally open so if the switch fails the only thing that happens is you cant get into test mode. QBert has the test switch normally closed so if the switch fails or a wire comes off it is stuck in test mode.
