So I bought this Q, #6271, for $800, and drove about 400 miles round trip to get it. When bought it worked, with a very dim monitor, a joystick that had 75% movement, and a knocker that did not work, but was there. The cabinet had "bumps" all over it, even on top. It also coined up continuously while playing. The wiring was very hacked up, but again, the game was working. The coin doors and frame were in bad shape as well, with rust and dents.
The CPO was cut where the radius goes underneath the CP, and the side art was missing in sections here and there.
This would be my second restore, and I already had some ideas about what I would change on it mechanically and cosmetically, so for the "purist" reading this... STOP NOW! Having said that, I went into this project telling myself I would not do anything unoriginal that could not be undone easily.

So the project went as so many on here do. Two steps forward one step back on most days. The changes that I made are:
Two fans inside the cab for cooling/ventilation
Powder coat the base ring/dust cover on the joystick yellow
LED's added to the 1 & 2 player buttons
Leg Levelers
Orange T-molding 100% around. (I just like the look that T-molding all around gives the cab from the side)
Made a small kick plate
I also utilized the battery replacement kit and filter board replacement from Arcadeshop. All artwork came from Szabo's. I added the "Easy Coin Up", which is my new favorite gadget. I will be placing these on all my games in the future.
I got the aluminum stickers from etienneodk, who does great work! The monitor is beautiful in part thanks in part to paul400.
Some things new folks might be interested in:
After repairing any damage to the harnesses, I put them in the dish washer, and the results were great.
After pulling the monitor & chassis, I washed them with simple green and the damn garden hose! BE SURE TO COVER THE ANODE HOLE! I plugged mine with an earplug :) Great results!
