Hello, I recently rebuilt a K4900 monitor for a guy that was having several issues with his Q*bert game. I did all the usual checks of resistors/diodes and checked continuity throughout. I installed a rebuild kit and I installed a new Flyback as the one that was on there was severely cracked and leaking high voltage. Everything went smoothly and when I finished, I checked all the voltages with it plugged into an isolation transformer and lastly checked it with a Test Pattern Generator while installed in his game. All was great, no issues. (BTW, I also reflowed and checked his filter board, rebuilt the power brick with new bridge rectifiers, and installed the new Power Supply Board from the Arcade Shop). TPG again showed great, only minor adjustments were needed.
Yet, immediately after removing the TPG cable and plugging in his Q*bert 6 pin plug into P202 from his original PCB, the game is very out of focus and colors are off (see attachment). Focus and colors were spot on with the TPG, but focus has little to no effect when his PCB is plugged in. The game plays as it should, sounds as it should, and all the voltages seem to be right.
Question is why it would look perfect on TPG and so far off on his game? And where should I start troubleshooting this focus/color issue? on the PCB? BTW, several years ago he had the main logic board rebuilt by a guy up north and was "working great" before all this.
Thanks in advance for all your ideas and suggestions.
Rudy
