For the longest time, Qbert didn't have any sound. So I just recapped the soundboard, installed it and turned Qbert back on. It worked great with good sound. I closed up the cabinet, moved it back, and when I turned it back on all I got was a screen full of pixelated nonsense.

Any help?

Try cleaning the connector(s) first, It is not processing code. This can be caused by several things so try the easiest first.

Voltages, connectors, and all wiring needs to be look at.

Last thing you might try to move it back :).

I just turned of the power and when I turned on Q*BErt, I ran into the same problem. I check fuses, reseed chips, replugged in boards, checked power supply... but can't find the problem

Maybe it just needs a new board... kinda driving me bonkers. I know how to check, fuses and voltage but how do I check to see if it's the actual gameboard that's causing the problem?

i just got another qbert in today, same issue, garbled text, after fixing the cold solder joints on the filter/interconnect board, all fixed.

this is not a main board issue.
