Hey guys,

Has anybody experienced this too? My Q*Bert's coin door lights randomly turn off and on. They work, I leave the room, I come back and they are out. Any idea what it might be? Very strange. Not a bad fuse or burnt out bulb so I have no idea what it might be.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Ryan

Bad ground going to the coin door. Could also be a broken solder joint on the filter board or power supply. If I recall those lights are powered from unregulated voltage from the brick so its not provided from the power supply but the ground is tied back through the input header at the bottom of the power supply. If you have a broke solder joint down there that could cause your problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hmm, I re-flowed all the headers on the PS and filter board a while back when I got it. I jumped the ground on the lamps to the coin switch ground (a known good ground) and no dice. Could it be a bad rectifier?

Just run a wire from the +5 or +12 (can't remember) output of the switcher to the lights. might need a ground, too...

Since the problem comes and goes the first thing I would be checking is the lamp sockets. wiggle the bulb and see if the light goes out.
The only other things you have is the fuse on the power brick and the bridge rectifier. Both of those usually work or they dont, not intermittent.

Yeah its really strange, I get no voltage when I put a meter on the sockets. No switcher on this one .. it's all original, big cardboard cover and all :)

Oh yeah, was getting my games mixed up.

find the voltage output of the power supply....

I have this problem with my Q*Bert, and I have chased it down to bad sockets. I just haven't had the time or desire to go through the physical pain to change them out yet.
