Hey guys, got 2 qbert bootleg pcb's. Can anyone tell by these to pictures if this is a normal jamma connector? They came with these 2 yellow connectors coming off the board and i'm not sure what the connector is for? q-bert, jamma, etc. thanks

Doesn't look to be a 56pin JAMMA connector. If you do get these working in a JAMMA cab though, I would LOVE to buy one from you. :D

.

Neither the board or harness is JAMMA, not sure what yellow connectors you are talking about tho, nothing in those photos. By the way, the board in the photo does not have the speech circuitry installed, common on bootlegs, they left it out as the SC speech chips were very expensive and added very little to the game.

Was talking about the gold/yellow connector in the pics.

I dont see a yellow connector in either pic.
That is an adapter to play the board in a specific cab. To answer your question, it is NOT jamma.
I disagree that the speech didnt add much to the game, it is what makes qbert a great game. I do agree that the speech chip added alot of cost to the board. Back in the day I would speculate the speech chip alone was $100 or more.

bootleg Q-berts

I know that JROK has a few and I have 2 bootleg PCBs as well. There are several variations. Search the forums and take a look at my site (below).

I need to look at my Q-bert cabinet (I can tell it is one by the sideart under the lovely black paint over it). I think I have a similar adapter in mine. I think that is an adater to play that PCB in a q-bert cabinet.

Let me know sir, that would be awesome.

One other thing to note, if you do get an adaptor made, or make one yourself you will need a switch on the service pin, this has to be tied to ground or the board will just drop into service mode.

I wonder if that adapter lets you play that board in a Konami style cabinet. Before JAMMA came around, that was the most common pinout..

EDIT: Just checked--that adapter board appears to have 44 pins on it, not 36 like the Konami style.

I'm wondering if it was an adapter to play one kind of qbert clone in another qbert clone cab? The two board style (clone #2) has a 44 pin connector. I have a two-board style one on the bench for repair right now. I built a jamma adapter for it.

i"ll have to study where the power +5's etc are on this compared to the real deal. It does slide right in the q-bert connector to one side or the other. Definately not turning it on til i figure out what it does power wise.

Very wise, have met a couple of boards with completely the wrong harness plugged on to them. The last one was sold as a faulty Altered Beast based on the harness label. The board turned out to be a Double Dragon bootleg, different pinout entirely.
