monitor went out in a dedicated rush 2049.
tired of messing with it.
i installed a 27" lcd in there now.
according to the manual, the game can run vga without a need for a converter board if dips are set correct.

problem is, the game board doesnt have a vga connector to connect a vga cable to an lcd.
so, does this mean i have to cut a vga cable at one end and splice into existing cabinets rgb/sync wires?
or am i missing something.
thx

cant plug direct into video card, the game stops at number 9 on the led diagnostic display and wont boot up:

BUT...i actually completed it today.
There is no need for an rgb/vga converter as the machine can run in any resolution via dip switches.
i bought a vga female solder style connector (less than $3).
Then, cut the sync and color wires in the cab that connected to the monitor that was in it.
soldered the wires in the appropriate pinout spots on the vga female (found 15 pin vga pinout schems online).
then, i connected a normal vga to vga (male both ends) connector to the lcd and the connector i just made..
turned game on, came up perfect. didnt need to do any monitor adjustments at all.
thx to another klover for the heads up on the vga terminals to solder to..

Can you shoot a pic or two of the repair? I'd probably do this to the next 2049 I cross paths with, just to get the 9200 or 2702 out of it.

That's good to know a Y-adapter would do the trick. Thanks for the info.

Only problem with this route is that the video out from the VooDoo card is really weak compared to the output from the JAMMA board in the cage.

I'm guessing but the cards output is probably in the 300mv range whereas the JAMMA board is above 1VDC.

You should be able to make up the difference with a modern LCD though. You guys are not routing these games are you? How are you protecting the monitors?

Can you share a pic of the lcd in it? I just put a neotec rebuilt chassis in mine but this might be the ticket for down the line. Is the lcd 4/3 aspect ratio?

i used a 27 inch acer lcd. those will turn on automatically each time power is applied to the game.
i of course tied the acer into the machines 120v lead.
its not near me or i would take pix, sorry:(.
you should also mount a piece of glass or plexi glass in front of it as there is no monitor bezel in that game.
same with arctic thunders.

sometimes when i put lcd in games i take the lcd and circuit boards right out of the tv package or monitor package so it looks industrial.
i then mount those parts (from those parts front) to a large piece of thick, clear plexi so its one unit.
i then take the "unit" and mount that to the cabinets existing monitor bolts..
looks pretty nice.
other times, i just mount the lcd or tv stand in the cabinet as a whole, so i mount the lcd base unit to a piece of wood.

pends the setup and time i have i guess:)
