Just wanted to say thank you to Mike (parrothead) for hookin' me up with his taxi pinball!

I have always loved this pin, never thought i'd own one of these....

Its got real nice artwork, original coin door, nice playfield (a few spots of wear, but not bad), nice backglass.

All in all, im real stoked on this pin, just gotta make some room for it in the garage. doh!

also big "ups" to dave (vectorinvader) for helping me move this thing into the garage.

I could see how this whole pinball thing could become very addictive!

Anyone have any ideas on the best way to clean the PLAYFIELD? its got a little bit of dust/dirt buildup. chris

Looks great. Congrats, that is even the Marilyn one!

To clean I would get some Novus 1 and possibly Novus 2 if there are some light scratches you want to try to get out (probably don't need it) and do a thorough cleaning of the playfield. Then wax with a pure carnauba wax. The wax can be hard to find. It isn't sold locally anymore where I live. All the waxes I found locally included polishing compounds (cleaner waxes) which you do not want on your playfield. You want to protect it and not leave polishing agents that will scratch it. I ordered some from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-05550..._1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1285026647&sr=8-1

You may use Isopropyl alcohol (highest alcohol %...E.g. at Walmart they have 2...I think the highest was 90 - 95%) and q-tips for some cleaning. I've also used baby wipes (squeeze out excess moisture first) for some things like cabinet exteriors.

Very nice machine - i owned a Taxi in the past and this one you have is a very nice looking machine.

To clean the playfield - It looks like you have mylar in some places / others is just the bare painted wood. The mylar is factory / day one most likely - they all came out of WMS like that.

Around 1991 Williams started Diamond plating (clear coat) their playfields. Pre 90's, like Taxi, the playfields were combo mylared / bare.

Too bad - since Diamond plate rocks. To clean that, just novus, and wax.

For this game - Novus 2 is fine all over. Just be careful on scrubbing - since you can take off paint on the bare areas (diamond plate was hard to remove that coat, so much better).

For tougher spots - like in grained dirt on the bare spots - Magic Eraser with 90 percent alcohol. VERY GENTLY. Again, to rough / much will remove paint since you are on the bare side.

Yes - Pinball can be very addictive. Although i am new here (adding "new" vids to my collection) i still play my Pins more than anything.

Oh - one other thing... if the mylar is bad / needs a good cleaning - go to town with a high powered drill / buffer wheel attached (or a buffer). The mylar is protective of the bare wood, and you have liberty on that.

thanks jody and jon for the helpful info :)

yes, you are correct. it does have the mylar in a few areas. not my fav, but i'm ok with it.

gonna try some novus 1 on a few small spots. baby steps!

someday i'd love to have a DINER pin with the diamond plating. that would be sweet.

Steve Youngs Pinball Resource site has some good cleaners. Novus 1 for plastics and also has a cleaner/wax for the playing field. Can't remember the name but you will seeit. Also huge selection of replacement and reman parts. I am restoring a 1963 Williams Jumpin Jacks pinball machine and that is where I am getting all my parts. The address is pbresource.com

Between the side art at what looks like very little wear around the pops, that could be the nicest Taxi vie ever seen.

Congrats, Chris! Welcome to pinball. And, yes, definitely a great pin to start with! Such a fun pin. The pop bumper wear on yours looks minimal! Just keep it waxed and you'll be fine.

yes, i agree with you. i havent seen very many taxis around, but this pin is in very nice unrestored condition. up close it looks like a few areas of the cab might have been touched up.

thanks for all the nice comments dudes!

ed..... i could def see myself with more and more pins this next year (just like you and steve). how is that MONOPOLY pin doing??

dave.... thanks again for your help bro (as always :) )
