Looking to buy a TZ and wish to get your opinions on what is a fair price. Seller was asking 6K I got him down to $4,100. He confirms in writing everything works including the gumball machine and clock. Is that fair???

Lotsa factors to look at. Cabinet, playfield, plastics, board hacks and so on.

Understand and appreciate your input. So how does one make sure eveything is OK when they are not able to inspect the machine in person. I'm 5 hours away and may make the trip to purchase this weekend??

Personally, I would put a Twilight Zone in the $3500-$4000 range. For $4100, I say go for it and enjoy one of the greatest machines ever built!

Playfield and cabinet condition are the most important (IMO). Especially the playfield. Electronics are FAR more easily fixable.

$4100 is a fair price (again, IMO). Seems like this game has been creeping up over the last few years. I wouldn't let mine go for less than $4500. Now that I'm thinking about it that might even be too low around these parts...

For Canada, $4,100 seems about right.

Also, I like to ask about signs of moisture. Rusty ramp flaps, cab checking / planking, anything that would indicate extreme cold or abuse.

Apprciate all your comments, experience and wise advise.

I'm also of the opinion it's worth the price and the 5 hr drive. This person swears the cabinet, playfield etc is in perfect condition. Having said that I have been always disappointed when they say 100%. That just gives me more room to knock down the price. Will be making the trip Saturday.

Very cool. Post some pictures when you get it all set up!

I wouldn't turn a wheel until I got a bunch of high resolution pictures of the playfield, cabinet and boards. When you're selling high end pins it goes with the territory.

The guy I bought my off road challenge from just sold his for $2700

$2700 for a TZ isn't going to come along very often, and when it does it will be gone VERY fast. More than likely a $2700 TZ is going to be one in very poor condition if the seller knows what he has.

As far as $4100 for one, that can be a very fair price. The playfields on TZ's tend to be in good condition compared to alot of other popular games (Addams Family). It is common for the cabs to get fade on the sides, but that is only as big of a deal as you make it. The mini playfield will often have planking (cracks) but they aren't too expensive ($150) and are easy to replace.

The nice thing about TZ is that there are tons of parts available for it since it's so popular.

What!! Did it have problems?? Is this US or Canada? I would buy it in a heartbeat!!!

He said it was nice and originally wanted 4000, which he couldnt get.

If it was as nice as the offroad challenge I bought then someone stole it.

my old one was for sale for $3500 with no dice for a while (this was about 3 months ago).. it ended up selling for $3200. It was VERY nice and fully working/shopped. I don't know where you guys are selling these for $4K+ so easily.

Great pin, I'll agree with that, however! I only sold mine to move to another A title.

You could sell a beat to shit TZ for 2700. Faded, non-working TZ with no mods for 2700. Nice ones aren't going for that price. Period.
