So I got this board which was 100% working I placed it in my big blue and fired it up. Go to play and the player one controls are not responding player two works perfect however. After leaving it on for a minute the punishes starts moving on his own and attacking then followed by graphical glitches.

I pulled the board and two of the ICS were very hot and the Voltage regulator looked burned around traces not sure if that was already like that as it looks to have been repaired prior.

Any ideas?

Did you get this from me? I know I sold one of these in the last year or so and it worked great when it left.

The first thing I would check is the voltage. If the +5v is too high or too low then it can cause ICs to overheat. Also reseat any socketed ICs.

What voltage regulator are you referring to? Are you talking about the sound amp? There shouldn't be a voltage regulator on the board.

It looks like a voltage regulator similar to one you would see on a k7000 chassis I'm still learning. The power supply took a dump during testing so I went and got a new one from the local suzo happ warehouse going to retest when I get home but I'm pretty sure the psu borked the board.

I just got the board yesterday.

OK, most Jamma boards will not need an onboard voltage regulator since they run completely off of the power supplied by the switching power supply.

Was the old power supply a switcher? Usually when a switching power supply fails it simply stops working. Linear power supplies on the other hand can send voltage spikes that will fry chips on a board. This is one reason I prefer to replace many linear power supplies.

I usually set the +5vdc line somewhere between 5.10 and 5.15 vdc. The other lines (-5vdc and +12vdc) I check to make sure they are close and then I test the board.

It was a peter chou atx psu. Looked pretty old and the fan was loud as hell shouldve just replaced it right away.

Alright Ive found 2 damage parts. Anyone know where I can Find this chip ppc1242H and this 2a104j?

Found one but the other is apparently only available in Germany can someone source these in the USA?
