I will be re-wiring a Punch Out cab that had been converted to JAMMA. I was told I could use a regular ole switcher in place of the stock power supply. That said, looking at the manual it appears there is a 24v line for something. Obviously a standard ole switcher isn't going to do 24v. What is the 24v line for?

In ANY Nintendo cabinet, the +24 volts is ONLY used to run the coin counter meter. If I were installing a standard switcher (like a Peter Chou as an example) in a Nintendo cabinet, I would do this:

Change the coin counter to a 12 VDC one.

Move the +24 volt wire that went to the meter to the +12 volt terminal on the new power supply.

Thanks Ken...

Option 2 is to simply ignore the coin counter as it's for home use anyway. :)

Yes, you could simply just leave the +24 volt wire disconnected and tied back. Game will still play normally, but without coin counter function.
