Just picked up a punchout that is missing the music. The announcer voice is there but the other channel has nada. It is not the monitor nor the speaker. I swapped around and pinpointed that there is nothing coming from the PCB. Anyone have any luck repairing sounds on a punchout PCB?

It's the 2A03 section. Not much to it really. Check to make sure the 2A03 is there and socketed(40 pin in the middlish of the CPU board above the Z80A), check that the eprom next to it is there, check for any broken capacitors on the CPU board.

I know it wasn't your problem since you said you checked from the PCB... but I had no music on mine, so I searched and came across this thread. But when I went to investigate the problem, I noticed that one monitor volume control controls the one speaker (voice), and the other monitor controls the other speaker (music). I turned that up, and I had music again :) . Just wanted to post in case someone in the future has this problem, and it's just the simple solution.
