Punch-Out sides

Very smart man, he knows the deal! I wont waste another key stroke on this one. There simply is no comparision . Glossy vinyl will show every imperfection there is on the surface, can you imagine...

Wrapped vinyl around the corner will let go in less than a year and be round at the edge its not designed to stay that way. I have a printer, laminator and many plotters and have for many years. All our vans are wrapped by us with the best wrap on the market and it still lets go when its bent over even with primer 94 over time.

Good lord man. That's what the t-molding is for.

All speaker grilles routered out with a 1/4" bit after predilling the wholes from behind. All my nintendo cabs are laminate inside and out for that matter except my mint PO. Most are running true flat t as well. My second PO is lamiated as well...

WARNING, not all nintendo cabs are the same thickness and I dont mean partical board vs plywood. I have found 4 variations on the cab design and thickness myself. There are likely more. I have true flat on 3 of them though

Excellent job man!!!

Just noticed the gloss vinyl comment. Yeah. Gloss vinyl is nasty. That's not what I was considering. The block out black seemed quite a bit more smudge proof. I was going to see about getting by some samples.

What I do like about the laminate is not worrying about air bubbles.

Its the edge after the tmolding, the edge of the cabs flat sides will loosen and bow. I first noticed people wrapping it like that 12 or so years ago at the auctions in NC and tennesse, rick james arcade auctions. Its not a car, its not as good a mounting surface and doesnt hold very long . It will let go and its very evident . The only thing keeping it from peeling back is the t molding holding it on.
But by all means wrap it if thats what you want. You can always peel it off and do it over

In a basement in my house, it holds up plenty fine. I haven't had any issues on my games where this has been used.

All that being said, just passing on info I thought might be useful.

Vertical Grade Laminate

I have a completely restored PO! cabinet and the vertical grade black laminate is what the cabinet needs to look original.

  1. Sand the sides with a belt sander and 80 grit sandpaper and bring it back to the wood.
  2. 3M 90 adhesive and laminate.
  3. Spray both the cabinet wood and the laminate. Wait 2 mins
  4. Lay the laminate down and give it some time to cure.
  5. Looks awesome and will last forever

[*]3M 90 adhesive and laminate.

While I do like the 3M 90 adhesive, with laminate I'd only use contact cement. Once applied the wood will separate before you can get off the laminate. With the 3M you can actually get the laminate to separate, I've done the tests.

Me personally... would like something that doesn't destroy the cab when whatever is removed. Just incase someone else ends up with the cab in the future and wants to do it differently or something gets damaged and the siding material needs replaced.
