Punch-Out!! Sanyo 20-Z2AW flickering, horizontal bands and lines

The bottom monitor on my Punch-Out!! just started to develop this odd horizontal banding/lines that shows up periodically while you are playing the game. They flash on the screen for a spit second in seemingly random spots on the screen and across the width of the whole monitor. The monitor has been capped and has been very reliable thus far. If I unplug the video signal it still does the horizontal lines on the empty white no-signal screen. If I plug the bottom monitor signal into the top the picture is perfect. So, it's not the board.

Any ideas what I should be looking at? Is the flyback going? Can you get a flyback for a 20-Z2AW?

Not the filter cap.

The fly is crapping out. Supposedly the 20EZV fly repro IS an acceptable replacement for the 20-Z2AW.

Ok, cool. Someone said, and not sure who (2600?) that they had different pinouts. But, I haven't inspected it.

There was a post recently from MaximRecoil where Chad had tested it and determined that it is the same fly or at least an acceptable substitute.

Well, I replaced the flyback (second flyback, first one from AS split in half after 2 weeks or so of use) and it's still doing it.

New HOT, new filter cap and B+ is measuring at 108.5. Checked all connections, everything is nice and solid.

Game still has the same symptoms as before I did all this.

Monitor looks great, game plays great but I have very thin black lines across the screen in random places for split seconds and not all the time and the monitor goes dim for a split second now and then. It's driving me batty. I don't know what else to do now. Ugh!

A few things come to mind.

You tested the pcb with the top monitor, what about the wiring for the bottom? Otherwords, did you swap them both?

Are you 100% that all the caps were changed and are working? Only reason I say this is that I had a Sanyo that did something similar. Ended up recapping and never had the issue again. It was on a single monitor PC, but sounds about the same...

Just a few thoughts.

I'll try swapping the video cables.

I changed all the caps using Bob's deluxe kit.

I fixed this issue by "restoring" my monitor with my Sencore rejuvinator. It seems to be all fixed.

Update:

THe flickering lines show up every now and then but it's not nearly as bad. I think this is a tube issue as the restore on the tube seems to have made it A LOT better. I don't have the brightness issue that I had before either. The picture is more stable and the picture is not getting brighter over time being on. The monitor looks awesome as compared to before. I might hit it with the Sencore again. OR, just leave it the way it is as it does look damn good with a very occasional freak out.
