Almost done my punch out restoration, the only thing left is new side art and a new CPO but I have to hold off on buying those right now. It has been a long road of using bondo, priming, sanding, painting, buying a marquee, new t-molding, re-capping the monitors and audio boards, painting the coin doors but it was worth it. Just recieved new starters and bulbs for the marquee light today, bought the from elightbulbs which only took 2 days to arrive considering I live in canada. The cabinet was also missing the lower piece of wood that the bottom marquee bracket attaches to and the bottom marquee bracket also. Here are a few pics of before and after.:)

WOW! Very nice. You did an awazing job, it looks brand new. Well done Dave

Thanks guys, it turned out better than I thought. My first time using bondo and it worked great, it took a bit to get the paint job to the point where I was happy with it which meant alot of sanding and re-painting but it worked out in the end. I think my next project will be to restore my Galaga or Pacman. Probably do the Galaga first because someone painted over the pacman side art so I had to scrap the paint of which did some damage to the painted side art so I have to figure out how what to do with that. I also have an empty cocktail cabinet I picked up for free and am thinking of putting a multi game board in it so if anyone out there has one to sell please let me know. I am thinking a 60-1 or 48-1 board. One question pertaining to my punch out, the plexiglass has an old sticker on the bottom( you can see it in the picture) what can I use to get that sticker off with out doing damage to the plexiglass. I tried a bit of goof off 2 but it looked like it was going to damage the plexi so I didn't use it.

I use to play Punch out back in the day, i sucked at it! lol You should post a video, it would be cool to see it fired up and playing in your game room there with Galaga! Fire them both up buddy let's see them in action.

I have always used goof off but i 1st use a blow dryer, not a heat gun to lift the sticker. Peel it off the best you can and the sticky crap will be left. I actually let that set up for a while so it isn't hot from the blow drying and then use the Goof off. This way i get less smudge from the sticker. I have never damaged any that i have cleaned and i have done this more than a few times.

Good luck,

Braido...

Thanx for the info Shayne I will give it a try, I never really played punch out in the arcade but always thought it looked like a cool game. The nice thing about owning it is that all I have to do is hit the credit switch which will save me a ton of money.:) I will try to get it on video and post.

Thanks! I rolled the paint using foam rollers, did a few coats of primer before painting. It took a bit before I was satisfied with the paint job because of lines from rolling it. I do need a new CPO, that is the original but it is in decent shape so for now I am going to leave it and get a new CPO and side art at the same time.

Use Goo Gone, it is not as harsh as Goof Off. Goof Off is great, but on some plastics, it melts it.

You can also use WD40. It wil take longer, but it will break it down.

Very nice job though!
