Can anyone recommend a suitable monitor that would be a direct swap into a punch out cabinet? Im pretty sure I have read someone using a punch out monitor direct swap into a Mario brothers machine. Will any 1st gen. 19' Nintendo monitor work as a direct swap providing its a vertical/horizontal match??

My top monitor is in great working order. My bottom one however, has bleeding colors and at times the opponents in the game will glitch to the point that they disappear from game play for a split second (ghosting) I do have 2 cap kits on order. Im hoping its only a cap issue. But if the cap kit doesn't solve the problem I have a parts guy that I can call, just need the name of another Nintendo Sanyo tittle that may be a direct swap

The Sanyo 20-EZV, Sanyo 20-Z2AW, and the Sharp XM-2001N were all used in Punch-Out machines, as well as other Nintendo machines that used 19" monitors. Vertical or horizontal is irrelevant, as that simply indicates the way the monitor is oriented in the machine, and is not an intrinsic property of the monitor itself. So for example, you can take a Nintendo Sanyo or Sharp from a vertical game like Donkey Kong and mount it horizontally in your Punch-Out machine (and vice versa).

The same models of Sanyos and Sharps were also used in some Atari machines, but I don't know which ones; and I also don't know if they were designed for inverted color video and 100 VAC input like the Nintendo ones were.

I guess I should have been a little more careful how I worded my previous post. MR is correct. What I really meant to say is any monitor that's in a Nintendo cab will work if it's the original monitor. That's what I get for posting while sitting at the bar :)
