Howdy!
Im fairly new to diagnosing these game problems. I have been able to successfully intsall a cap kit on a monitor and bring it back to life!!
I have an old Punch out cabinet that im trying to restore. Long story short, It was in storage for 10 years. Brought it out last week and other then the lower monitor needing new caps, everything worked great! It played great, just the cabinet has been used and abused.
However when I now I plug it in, BOTH monitors show SQUARE pixeling?? Im 100% this is NOT a monitor issue but an output issue. After the machine has been plugged in for about 1/2 hour it kicks in and works great on both monitors. However, until it does this warm up period i just stare at square pixels.
Should I be looking at my PCB possibly?? I wanted to keep it as original as possible with the exception of paint, side decals, and control panel decal replacements. I wasn't keen on making it a MAME punch out, but if diagnosing gets too tough I may have to go that route. Power transformer shouldn't be in question as it still has plenty of juice going to the cabinet.
any thoughts??
