Hey fellas, anyone ever experience this graphic issue? At first, I thought it was a monitor issue, so I capped them both (needed to be done anyhow). However, this did not fix the issue. Then I thought possibly the vertical size or hold might have something to do with it. After adjusting both, no luck. Squeezing the size down still showed the same ko bar flaw. So I believe it's a board issue...but not sure which chip this problem is associated with. So I reseated all socketed chips on both the video and bak board...no change. Any suggestions? Thanks

that sure looks like a ROM needs a cleaning

I use a brass brush on a dremel tool but you have to be EXTREMELY careful as that spinning brush can grab a leg and throw the rom across the room or whatever
sometimes just the act of pulling the ROM and putting it back on can get it to work again
you have to pull those things up very careful and keep it even or the legs will bend
this is hazardous

those boards are populated with so many components it's unbelievable
no telling what can be wrong with it

I wish you good luck

Thanks for the advice. I usually clean with a razor blade. I just have no idea what rom is tied to that graphic issue

do you have a great magnifying glass ?
sometimes oxidation can be detected on a leg that might be inhibiting electron flow
there has to be a "video section" of the board that has a ROM nearby that's related
try following a trace(s) back from the finger edge connector towards a suspect ROM chip ?
make sure you lift that ROM out of the socket real even like or the leg(s) will bend
once the ROM is out, maybe a close inspection can reveal a piece of dirt or some visual problem with a socket
have you inspected the connector pins inside there
maybe one or more is weak and not gripping the game board tight enough

have 3 of the dual monitor boards with graphical problems that I cant fix.
haven't been able to find anyone who fixes them but its been a few years since I've looked
anyone on ebay advertising repair service on those ?

sorry that's all I got. hopefully someone here knows the answer and can chime in

please post a fix if you run across one or even if you find someone who can do repairs

one last idea. have you checked if the +5volts is correct on the power supply AND ON the game board ?
could be yours is low and that can cause screwy things to happen

Have you tried swapping the video signal between the monitors to verify that the issue still exists regardless of which monitor ?

Good call, ugly pickle. So when swapping the monitor signals, the KO bar looks just fine, so this is monitor related. So as I said above, I've tinkered with the vertical hold, size and position but no change. Am I overlooking something?

I had a flakey Sanyo once and it was because this switch was not where it needed to be. Might have gotten bumped at some point.

Punch out graphical issue. Help! 😊

Looks like an H sync adjustment issue on your chassis. Turn the pot a little and see if it fixes the picture

Problem solved! Thanks everyone for the help, icharlie, I totally overlooked the hsync pot...a slight twist and the issue is fixed! Hopefully this thread will help someone out down the road if they have similar issues

Nice! Love it when threads come to a conclusion. I believe Adam at onecircuit.com does PO repairs, but he's usually got a nice sized waiting list.

nice !
going to try that with my broken ones too
never thought of that

good job

Credit goes to you guys for helping out, and Icharlie hitting the nail on the head. I was thinking about contacting Adam, but glad I didn't waste our time...board works just fine. Glad I looked at it though as those old maxell batteries needed to go before they cause acid damage
