Punch Out cabinet paint

Any "shade" of black other than black is called "gray".

I used Oil based black satin if I do remember correctly.

That rust oleum satin black is the stuff i've used for my default black for years. Normally i'm a water based paint guy, but black is the exception. No such thing as a true black water based paint.

After you've done all those coats, do you use any type of clear coat (i.e. Minwax Polycrylic)? How many coats of primer (if any)? I will be painting my cab pretty soon and don't want to FIU.

Normally, I'd use a Satin Black, but with a PO I think a Semi-Gloss is much closer to the original sheen.

Same here. The Rustoleum black is the way to go.

I also used rustoleum satin black (oil based) which turned out beautiful however I Thinned it little and sprayed it with a REAL spray gun...not with cans of course.

Was PO painted from the factory,or vinyl? Looking at my cab I can't tell if it's paint or not. What are you guys using to clean up chemical wise when painting with oil base?

I don't clean up. :)

What I mean by that is that I use a disposable try...and I shit-can the foam rollers, mixing stick, etc... Oil based is a bitch to clean up so I find it much easier just to throw it all away. Foam rollers are a dime a dozen, the disposable trays can be had for a buck, etc.

My hands end up being semi-beat down for a few days though.

:)

If it's a big deal for you, you can get some paint thinner to clean up with.

no, no biggie. I am not used to throwing things away but I agree, I would rather toss everything than clean up. what size can are you guys using for PO cabs? A full gallon? My machine actually looks really good and doesn't exactly need a full repaint. I'll have to post pics to get you guys opinions on just doing a touch up. It just has nicks and dings on it and I don't intend to make it a mint condition machine, I just want to cover the areas that the black has come off of and is exposing the wood.
