A friend of mine is working on a puckman cocktail. The power supply is bad and its blowing its fuse. He says he replaced the bridge and it still blows it. He is tired of messing with it and thinking of sending it back to the owner who will probably kill it..

I was over his home and noticed the PS looks like a crazy climber PS. I don't know if they are similar/same. I have an old CC PS but I think its also blowing its fuse.

So, does anyone know about fixing the puckman or CC PS? Does anyone make an adapter to use a switching PS? I would be interested in 1 or 2 CC PS adapters if somone could make one.

Bill, you know I never did get the PS in the CC I got from you working. What I did was make a switcher adapter using hot glue to form a connector that would mate up with the CC wiring harness. The CC PS supposedly has a reset circuit signal but CC doesn't seem to use it so if it really is the same PS, maybe Puckman doesn't use it either. That's really the only thing that would make it difficult.

What I did was wire up the pins for the adapter, plug them into the right spots in the CC wiring harness connector, and then slowly started to layer on the hot glue until I had something that was semi-solid. Bear in mind it's not going to be super durable but it got the job done. Oh, and another "issue" is the wiring diagram calls for -12V for one of the wires, but in the case of CC that just powers the coin door lights so I just used +12V and it worked great.

Hope this helps and hope you can get it running. Puckman definitely warrants the effort to keep it alive. It would be a shame if it got destroyed.

thanks for the info. I will pass it along to my friend. Maybe it will help him to give it another shot.. I found 2 files online for puckman, but I don't think they have clear info. If page 7 is correct, it takes some strange voltages.

I am wondering if that connector could be found to make a more polished adapter CC..

Puckman is often a bootleg, you might want to take some pictures of what you actually have going on there.

good point. I asked for pics of cab, pcb, and PS.

Also, if the guy is ready to rip it up, you should really just slap in a 60 in 1 and a new power supply (just set it to play the pac games unless the cocktail has a button), charge him $125, and keep the Puckman board.

If it's legit maybe contact riptor. I believe he has worked on puck man boards before so I would assume that he would know about their power requirements and possibly know a fix for the ps.

here are pics: (I think its bootleg)

That's an original Taito Space Invaders Cocktail, not a Puckman! It matches specs, parts, and labels with my Lunar Rescue.

Cool find all the same! I'd save that pooch if I were you.
