I purchased a new rebound rubber for my United puck bowler and I can't figure out how to get to the screws that hold the bottom of it in...I've got the old one out and the the machine in half but the formica is still in the way of the screws that need to be loosened. I also removed the bolts that looked to be holding the whole assembly in place, and it's loose, but will not slide out.

Any suggestions

Can you post a picture of the problem area? I am by no means an expert on these games (got my first one earlier this year and am starting to learn the ropes), but I did replace the rebound rubber on mine. That was the first time I have ever done this, so I don't remember the process. But if I see of picture of yours, I may be able to help (if it is the same setup as mine).

I just did mine but forgot the steps, lol.
I took the entire playfield apart from the main cabinet and had no problems

There ended up being 2 buried screw ends under the playfield holding the support in, luckily no real damage when I took the hammer to it.

Thanks for the responses

FYI, the new rubber made very little if any difference.

I assume you were trying to get a more lively rebound so that you don't have to throw so hard.

Are you using plenty of shuffleboard wax and what number is it? The stuff needs to be spread all the way back through the pin area to help the puck slide. I bought a new puck for mine and it weighs about 1.5 times more than the one that was being used on it. I also use silicone spray on the alley before I spread a mixture of #3 and #7 wax. #3 is what the last owners were using. When I ordered more, I decided to go with the stuff that was designed for the game (#7). It is painfully slow with all #7 on it but I have 6 cans of the stuff to use, now.

Bottom line: it's all about where the puck meets the wax. A good smooth puck will rebound with little effort on # 3 wax.

Have a new puck and #7. Planning on hitting it with Novus #2 then the Silicone and finding faster wax. Should I take a buffer to it first?
