I bought a replacement rebound rubber from Marco two years ago and installed it - it just never had good rebound after that. I am looking to replace it. Any advice or source? Also, is there adjustment to be made? I tightened all of the bolts - was I supposed to leave a little looseness?

Thanks,

Bill

One word.....100% SILICONE SPRAY AND WAX

As is mentioned in the thread, Clean the lane, polish it if it's at all rough, and then apply silicone spray (make sure it's 100%, Home Depot only had something that was partial silicone, but I think I got it at Ace Hardware. I believe I did a few coats letting it dry in between, then waxed it....WOW The puck was actually coming back too fast, bouncing and going back down again!

Sprinkle more puck bowler wax on it. I use #6 and it works well. It goes disappear quickly through the crevices where the rollover switches are, so you mush add the powder every couple games.

also, just thinking now that maybe your rollover switches are adjusted too high, making the puck drag more, and thus causing the puck to rebound more slowly or perhaps the game is not level?

#6 is way too slow. i use #1, fastest there is. even little kids find it easy to move the puck. its not the rubber, it rarely is.

Thanks for the advice - I'll give this a shot when I have time and report back.

I am a HUGE fan of silicone on my Air Hockey table, but it is 100% NOT NECESSARY on a puck bowler.

Use more dust and check your puck for smoothness on the bottom.

I have new pucks and use lots of dust but will try faster dust.

Here's how I prep the Midway Cobra for family game night:

Clean the alley with Novus 2 (get the dirt out of the playfield)

Pure Carnuba Wax (keeps the dirt out of the cracks protects the beating)

Silicone Spray (sits on top of the wax and helps dust stay in place longer)

I use the Medium #5 dust

I do this every few weeks...

Ohemio has it right....clean the playfield, and wax it with some car wax....don't really think you need the spray...then a lite coat of shufflealley powder and your good to go.

A fast lane surface will make up for a poor rebounding rubber. But rather than buy a new rebound rubber, I hear you can turn the rubber around and expose the previously hidden, more-bouncier side.

My lane preference is a good novus 2 cleaning. Then periodically apply the silicone spray which holds the powder in place better. Then #2 dust. The higher speed powders are really fast.

When I replaced my rebound rubber it made ZERO difference. I used the silicone 6 months ago and with my limited use it's still rebounds to the front rebound rubber and bounces.
