I'm thinking of selling my PS3 as I can't figure out a reason to own it anymore, since I've basically switched completely to 360 for modern gaming after getting one a few years ago.

Mine is the last version of the "fat" style system, 80 gb, great cosmetic shape, with box, never had any issues or problems with it. I was thinking of bundling it with 5 or so games plus bluetooth headset, blu ray remote, etc.

Do you think it's worth it to sell or do the fat consoles not get any love any more?

Ps3

I personally favor the Xbox over the PS3. The xbox has more exclusive titles that I want to play. I don't think you'll be satisfied with what people are willing to pay for it. It is the same with the Xbox. I'd hang on to it and use it as a blue ray player or hack it. :)

Backwards compatibility doesn't seem like the selling point it once was. Firmware version might matter too. I see the fatties without games going for 200ish in ok condition. If those are good games you might be able to get $350 on the high end.

The 80GB is still worth some money if it is the older 80GB PS3's that were bundled with Motorstorm and Metal Gear Solid 4 have 4 USB ports, they have Flash Card Slots, and they can play PS1 and PS2 games).
80GB PS3's that are backwards compatible use Software Emulation for backwards compatibility and it can't play all PS1 and PS2 games, but it can play the majority of them (around 80%).

A 20GB/60GB which actually had the emotion engine chip and played 98% of titles are worth more.

Mine is the final fat version, so it is 80gb with no ps2 compatibility and 2 usb slots in the front...but it is much more reliable than the earlier fat systems

So what you have is a fat PS3, that is not backwards compatible. Don't hope for much, I'd say.
I'd drop in at least a 250GB hard drive and that could be a selling point, if you have a spare sitting around or could get one super cheap.

Keep it
It the best blue ray player on the market
That what I use mine for

i don't see how that can be the case - it can't play 3-D blu rays as far as I know, and the netflix/streaming services on it are terrible, unable to perform at even half the speed they should.

It's the best player in the sense that you get a game console for not much more money. If you just wanted a player you can probably get them under $150 now.

PS3 can play 3D Blu Rays. It also plays some PS3 games in 3D on a Blu Ray disc.
