I found what appears to be a package variation. I have 2 games they are the same, but one is missing the year on the spine. Anyone know any info about this?

This one in particular might have something to do with MVP Baseball 2005 being the last of the series due to the MLB and Take-Two having exclusive rights preventing EA from making future MLB games until this year.

So my guess is that EA was allowed to keep selling MVP BB 2005, so they just dropped the 2005 from the title so gamers might not realize how old a game this was since no new ones had been made since.

Edit: Well maybe not, since the date was only dropped from the spine and not the cover as well. Hell I dunno, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to all that.

In my experience so far, I think I've seen well more of them with the year than without. It was interesting enough for me to pick up the yearless one anyways.

But since it is a sports game, no one really cares about it ... BUT it was short printed on PC, meaning it is next to impossible to find. On Amazon, the cheapest used copy is $60! So as far as sports games go, if you see this for PC, you should definately get it!

Part of that, too, is because there is still an active modding community for that game on PC, believe it or not.

Oh yeah. There are some really awesome mods for that, especially that whole roster throwback one with updated play by play sounds. My friend still plays it on PC.
