PS2 freaking out with controllers and a few PSX games...

Just curious if anyone knows what this could be...

I have an NES and an original PS2 (not slim) hooked together thru a 4-way AV switch, shouldnt be a problem. The screen bounces on a few select PSX games (mainly DDR and some screens on Ridge Racer 60FPS). Havent tried eliminating the AV switch yet but I seriously doubt it's the cause.

The other problem is that sometimes the controllers freak out with it, like a button is stuck or a certain direction gets stuck. It goes away simply by unplugging the controller and plugging it back in. It's not the controller, its doing it with every controller I plug in as well as a practically new DDR pad.

I know PS2's are shitty especially the originals, but usually they get disc read errors. This one's just freaking out. Is it about to red ring on me or what?

I have a first gen PS2 connected with a 4 port AV switch and have no problems. Although I do not have the games you are using.

EDIT: wanted to add that the only time I have had problems with PS2 is when it was connected through a Macrovision enabled VCR.

Unplugging and plugging in a controller while the console is on may have shorted out the controller ports.. not sure how big this problem is on the PS2 but I remember it being a huge issue on the Dreamcast

As far as PSX games dunno, may be emulation blips
