I messaged the guy basically saying "those are bootlegs" and got this response:

"THEY ARE NOT BOOTLEGS I GOT THEM FROM NINTENDO IN REDMOND WASHINGTON INPERSON!!!, I SOLD THERE COINOP GAMES IN THE 80'S & 90'S AND YES SOLAR JETMAN IS REAL TO, THANKS"

"BEFORE YOU CALL SOMETHING A BOOTLEG YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK IT OUT FRIST, THE DISTRIBUTOR I WORKED FOR WAS NINTENDO'S FRIST DISTRIBUTOR IN THE US COINOP MARKET HERE IN SEATTLE,AND WE DID ALOT OF TESTING OF THERE GAMES FOR THEM, IN ARCADES AND STREET LOCATIONS TO SEE IF THE GAME WOULD BE PLAYED IN THE US MARKET. AND THE PICTURES ARE NOW ON THE LISTING OF SOLAR JETMAN, AND I DO HAVE OTHER PLAYCHOICE GAME THAT WILL BE LISTED NEXT MONTH THAT WERE PROTOTYPE GAMES"

So could be legit...if so this is pretty interesting then.

I really don't think a prototype would have an marked out tag from another game... Looks fishy.

What about the fact that the screen says new game 1 as the game title? I thought if you just changed the chips the original title would still show.

I agree is seems odd that they would mark out the title with a black sharpie if it was from Nintendo. Why not just peel the sticker off?

Agreed on both counts. Lotta BIOS modding to change the thing to read New Game 1.

Like I said interesting.

The email reply I got was in all caps, and well see for yourself, filled with spelling errors.

Thought I would post it here.

I threw a bid on that SJM, but his potential bootleg games do make me nervous. Then again I am going to hope that it is legit, and he might be holding onto RBI, NG3 and Shatterhand :)

While I would like to own some prototypes it seems odd. Maybe they are real. Wish they were better titles though. :)

I politely asked for closeup pictures and any info about the carts. This is what I got....

Thanks for the very clear pictures. Although they are clear enough to tell that they were both Double Dragon carts. The whole thing seems shady.

Correct me if I am wrong but you can only swap roms on carts made by the same manufacturer right? Double Dragon is made by Technos and those two games are by Jaleco.

Maybe its legit??

If those 3 are posted then you and I will be in a bidding war. ;)

Well he has SJM up right now. I threw a bid up and got outbid right away...someone really wants that game!

I have a pre-determined number in mind for that one...the others man I don't know...yea we would be in a bidding war! :)

Certain boards for certain games yes, but it isn't based on manufacturer.

The blacked out name and shit stickers on the chips is the big red flag to me, but the new game thing, if you were to mod the BIOS of a board, so you can manually type the name in why not list the name of the game. Also why not pick better games. Those two sucked ass.

The only good thing about Bases Loaded was that guys would charge the mound.

That was my point as well. If you are going to make it why not just include the title?

although I have never owned any proto pc-10 stuff, I have seen/own a bunch of proto games from 2600 to nes stuff. I would say those look legit to me.

Someone direct DreamTR here, if anyone can find out of these are legit, it would be him, and I'm sure he'd be more than willing to buy them too.

IMO, his story seems believable. First, he owns very rare playchoice games (Rad Racer 2, World Cup, SJM, Mario's Open Golf), and he said he's selling more next month. Second, he lives 30-40 minutes from Redmond, WA. Lastly, the stroy he sent you about working for Nintendo's first distributor, etc..It makes sense, and he followed through in continuity when he sent to different KLOVers the same story about the games.

However, the only concern I have is the Double Dragon slave carts and boot-legged looking chips.

Having said that, we've never seen Base's Loaded previously boot-legged. Nor have we seen the "New Game 1" game header, but unlike the aforementioned concern of legitimacy these two "firsts" lead me to believe it is authentic.

All I know is that if these are legit, then I would consider them rarer than Shatterhand and RBI. SH and RBI were, at least, supposed to exist. So, to me, this makes the Base's Loaded and Racket Attack unattainable rare (if they are real).

I just checked his SJM, and there are already 5 bids with the price at $165. It has 6 1/2 days left at auction. My things is: Why get into a bidding war 6 1/2 days out? Someone enlighten me...

I thought the same thing about these when I saw them a few days ago at the current price.

I had bids in on both of those. I have my rule to doing ebay. It helps me be less aggrivated by sniping.

I have two numbers, a feeler bid and a true high bid. I toss out the feeler bid, then 4 days later I throw the second or true high bid. I don't go any higher.

With both of these I had to throw out my true high bid early just to see if it would hold. On both of these now I have zero need or desire to watch them the rest of the week, as they are beyond what I was willing to pay.

That to me is better then watching for 6 days only to have all of the damn bidding come down to 12 seconds at the end and getting pissed off about sniping.

I think if they were really test market prototypes that they would have the printed labels like all the factory conversion chips. Second they would have the name of the game in the menu.

Even if they were in house prototypes they should have the name in the menu and instructions so they know what game they are testing.

And what ever happened to that Final Breakball game? Did anyone here win it?
