I've been shopping around pinball parts vendor sites and found that many of them carry protective plastics... these things go on over the existing play field plastics to protect them from scratches and damage... apparently.

Have any of you experienced pin folk used these before or would recommend them?

I supposed its possible that some games are more prone to damage than others... but then again, I own only two pins and have had them for a total of about 2 weeks. ;)

I've used them in some of my machines. Some games have issues with plastics breaking, and these protectors can be a lifesaver. I tend to like them on larger plastics that are more expensive to replace. However, if you have a machine that the plastic sets are scarce, I'd get a full protector set installed.

Actually, you put the protectors UNDER the plastics (for the most part)...they stick out just a hair so if the ball flies up, the protector keeps it from chipping the plastic.

I use a lot of them, I put them on most games I shop. Cheap insurance the way I see it. Pinbits ones work well.
