I was having this discussion with a co-worker today. I have always pronounced the Mr. Do! games as in the saying "Do the right thing". However, he claims the Japanese pronunciation is correct (as in Judo) which makes sense given the origin of the game and the fact that "Do" means "The Way" in Japanese. How do you prononounce these games?

Long story short. It's "dew" :)

I agree on "Dew"... There's even a nicely produced video series on YouTube of a group of Japanese arcade fanatics that visited FunSpot (Onion Software). The host pronounced it Mr. Dew!

I can understand the discrepancy though.

The answer.

OK here is the answer is in the Japanese flyer. If you look under the title you will see the characters ミスター・ドウ (mi su ta [long vowel symbol] do u) this is Katakana (used for loan words from other languages) ド makes the sound "do" and adding the character ウ adds "u" sound which makes it Mr Dew.

So while it would make sense from the musical perspective to call it Mr. Doh, it should be Mr. Dew.
