Proper installation of Q608, Q609, Q708, Q709 on G05-80x
Was looking over my G05-805 last night and noticed that the frame-mounted amplifier transistors (Q608, Q609, Q708 and Q709) appear to only have a thermal grease compound between them and the frame (correct me if I'm likely wrong).
Given that I have a quick question: If I end up needing to replace any of these transistors, should I just use any old thermal compound and make sure the transistor case isn't shorted to the monitor frame? Should i really lather that crap on there to ensure I don't get a short? What do you guys normally do to ensure good thermal conductivity, but no electrical conductivity?
(I noticed that my A/R board uses some kind of a thermally conductive shim on the large heat-sink-mounted transistor...Not sure what kind of material that shim is made of.)
Thanks!
