Proper installation of Q608, Q609, Q708, Q709 on G05-80x

Was looking over my G05-805 last night and noticed that the frame-mounted amplifier transistors (Q608, Q609, Q708 and Q709) appear to only have a thermal grease compound between them and the frame (correct me if I'm likely wrong).

Given that I have a quick question: If I end up needing to replace any of these transistors, should I just use any old thermal compound and make sure the transistor case isn't shorted to the monitor frame? Should i really lather that crap on there to ensure I don't get a short? What do you guys normally do to ensure good thermal conductivity, but no electrical conductivity?

(I noticed that my A/R board uses some kind of a thermally conductive shim on the large heat-sink-mounted transistor...Not sure what kind of material that shim is made of.)

Thanks!

JoeTechBob, they should have a little mica insulator (hard to see) on the frame between the thermal paste and the frame. If you don't have them, you can get some at Radioshack. You also just found what was wrong with your monitor, LOL!

Seriously though, they're probably on there, and you just can't see them inside the game because it's so dark.
