I have pretty much everything fixed on my propcycle. The only thing left is getting the fan to blow hard enough. Check out this video:

As you can see it isn't doing much. Any suggestions?

not too familiar with the setup on that game, but you could have a ton of dust and whatnot plugging the "squirrel cage" for the blower. It does sound just a little loud to me and if thats the case it could be a faulty/failing motor or worn motor brushes.....best thing to do would be to try to get access to it and see what ya got....

I had it out and completely cleaned it, it could be the brushes, I never had it on when I had the cover off. That would be an easy fix! Thanks!

Pulled the fan apart and found the problem

The way the fan mounts is completly retarded, I cannot imagine that any propcycle fans lasts too long.

Check this out:

This is the upper fan, the hole that the rubber (I don't even know what to call the part) fits into is all torn up!

This takes the cake, some apple genius :) tried to fix the lower fan by shoving a twist-on wire connector into the whole! I spins, but doesn't get ANY traction, so it barely blows.

I fixed it using a washer that i notched and riveted it in place:

It works, but I wasn't perfectly on center, so it wobbles. What I need to do is run a shaft right down the middle like it should have been done from the factory. I haven't figured out how I will connect it to the motor yet, probally with a shaft collar or something similar.

I might have a fan/motor for that. Give me a measurment of the squirrel cage. What voltage motor is it?
I have a couple I got from a friend who did HVAC a while back.

Thanks Riptor! I was able to fix it with the help of my father's CNC machine. He made a replacement for the rubber part out of aluminium, it works so much better now!

It is better than it was new!

Cool ! ;)

These types of fans are expensive so a good idea to do this fix. You're very lucky to have access to a CNC machine !

Does the game do any regulation of the speed ? I played it once when it was new and I don't really remember...

I thought about using a smaller version of this type of fan to pump out the heat of my SW cockpit. Of course running at a much slower rate. The SW cockpit "game" area is quite small compared to a regular cab, esp. with the 25" Amplifone so I thought it might be a good idea to use one like this. Should be possible to run it at a low rate and still pump out enough heat...

It runs at full speed, but it will run in reverse for a sec to break the fan and stop the wind when you slow down.

I think a fin like that would work well for what you are looking to do, it wouldn't have to run very fast, just be careful where you place it, you don't want the EMI to mess up the monitor. When it kicks on the video gets a little distorted on the projection CRT.

If anyone has a propcycle and would like this part too, let me know, I am sure my dad could make some more.

the fix looks good. The motor is still awful loud though. Sounds to me like you might have a bearing in the motor out, or the bearing that supports the squirrel cage on the other end. Might be worth checking out.

Yah you would think that right? Actually I ran the motor all by itself and it is quiet. The other end of the cage rides in nylon, no bearing. Although it seems loud in the video, it isn't noticeable when playing.
