Project you can't start because of that ONE part you need?

Atari Assault: joystick shafts

I have pretty much all parts of the joystick that wear NOS, mostly from Stephen/mylstar - housings, handles, pivot balls, switches, etc...but my original pair of shafts have the enlarged/worn holes. The Assault board works, bought the cabinet minus the control panel. Got a repro metal panel, repro CPO, found the cp harness..this project will be all about building an NOS like control panel.

I actually turned the shaft over to my bro in law, who has a neighbor who does machine work - waiting to see if this guy will make me a pair.

I've got everything to make a dedicated Frenzy. It's actually the Frenzy I got a couple of months ago, I have a full working board set, Bezel, Marquee, Control panel, you name it I have it . . .

EXCEPT for the cabinet side wiring harness, I don't have one!

Flight 2000 pinball. Can't find a repro backglass and the existing one is garbage (if I were to hit it with compressed air it would probably just be a piece of glass... paint has degraded to more like powder).

Also looking for a part for Berzerk and Space Invaders... but the 'part' in those cases would be a complete cab. :D

Am I the only one who hoards up repro stuff for some games before he actually finds the games in question? I know I'm going to be kicking myself a few years down the road for not picking up the current DoT repro stuff. Currently kicking myself for not picking up a Missile Command repro panel when they were available (though I was not really hanging out here much when those were produced).

No, I do the same stuff. I bought Rich's Encom kit for Tron way before I ever got a Tron cab. So worth it too, it looks great now that I have one.

My Space Demon Mini cab is pretty much at a standstill until I can finish converting a board set from Space Firebird to Space Demon. Just the sound board needs to be changed. I'm still holding out hope, though.

I have an entire pede machine now.. minus the cabinet and monitor. hah and I wont for now, wife has a strict "no more full machines" embargo until we move. Does not stop me from buying parts though. hah

Hey..if you google image search for assault shafts or something, you get the pics where he DID have some made by his in house engineering team. By that, I mean he ordered samples from overseas and most likely didn't pay for them.

No way.

Besides he probably doesn't really have any shafts for sale anyways. If there is an entry on the site with no pics it means the part was never mass produced.

What ever happened with Mylstar (Stephen) having a run of these made? I have 2 sets of NOS sticks and I'd still buy another 2 sets of shafts just to have them around.

Keep looking, man, Assault is one of my fav games, maybe the last one I'd part with if the shit hit the fan. One of the few titles that even after beating it still holds up and keeps me coming back.

Domino Man: I haven't been able to find the front plastic panel with all the dominos on it. The closest I got was a Google search showing Quarter Arcade had one, but it was already sold. These are a pain to find and I can only hope someone comes across one an op kept from a conversion. Mine was a convesion and so it makes me wonder what the op did to them, but probably threw 'em away. :(
