Programming help EPROM

I can only say there's no magic to this. And you seem to have a good idea of the process. I would copy the code from the known working EPROM you are swapping around and apply that to one of the chips. See if that works because maybe you have the wrong code.

I gotta figure out how to do that as well. I know I'm probably making this more difficult than it needs to be but it's amateur hour over here lol 😆

I don't have that model so I can't give you step by step. Just read the manual. This stuff is straightforward. Just sometimes finicky.

Maybe because the file is named sound1.716 ? Maybe if I change that to sound1.bin it will work?
yeah the filename doesn't matter. it processes the code inside the same way. lol

try your roms in one of the System 6/7 sound boards, but make sure it's one jumpered for 2716 (Robotron/Joust/Sinistar are 2532)

I highly doubt if you have like 25 of those System 3 ones that none of them work, but just for posterity

I was able to copy and write the code from a known working eprom and it worked so I know my programmer is working correctly. Now I just need to figure out what I'm doing wrong then as far as pulling the files I need off the net.

Success! It doesn't really matter now that you have the right code. 😄. But, sure, solve the process for next time.

I don't think I ever used a Needhams programmer before, so I'm not familiar with the program

They all work lol I just need more eproms for them. I was using the working one I have and swapping it from board to board to test them. I do have 5-6 more that need further troubleshooting but that's another issue alltogther

Looks like the Needhams did have some issues. I had four erased 2716's that were verified blank on the BP programmer and are not clear on the needhams. I had lots of issues with eproms not being erased and this explains it. At some point I'll try to repair the needhams since every ic is socketed. For now I need to get the code for the two williams pins done.

No dice I moved the jumpers around to work with Sinistar and I didn't get anything it was working prior to moving the jumpers around so I'll have to test it in my Sinistar and see how it performs I can also swap the eprom from my working board and see if that makes a difference

To close this out with a solution. I got the BP Mircrosystems EP-1132 running and programming correctly. I'm using V3.71 for firmware which is the newest I could find. Here's where my error was and if someone in the future runs into this same dilemma it might help them. In the buffer menu you have to go to options and change the automatic file identification to disable. I'm guessing even after I choose binary it defaulted to a different type of file which obviously would cause an issue. Once I did this I was able to program the chips without an issue. For everyone that chimed in I appreciate the help and advice.
