Ive asked two fellow KLOV'rs there take on this and they both hit this low...What do u think a very nice original professor pacman would bring if I ever wanted to sell it..I would have to pay alot to get it... Whats it worth? Thing is it would almost compltete my pacman line up. So its probably worth more to me.

Yes I actually own TWO complete working dedicated Professor Pacs as well all the other dedicated pac games in the series..why is it Riptor is always classified as the Pac guy...long before Mike had all his Pacs..I had every Pac in the series already..:D

Your not going to get a good idea of price asking klovers what they think anything is worth..truth be told most hate Proffessor Pac and will tell you its only worth a few hundred.....but to a pac person who needs it to complete his collection its worth a lot more because of its rarity...

Most important things to look for...is it complete..and does it work...because its not easy to find parts for and the boards are not easy to work on if your not familar with the system..fortunately between Riptor and I we can usually figure all of the issues these boards tend to have...most common is heat issue with Cpu so you need to have a fan on those boards and heat sinks on the custom chips on cpu board which go bad often and are obsolete..and the card cage system tends give you lots of glitches that you either have to clean or replace the edge connectors..Riptor found a source for these ..but I don't know how many spares he has now..I ordered a bunch to redo my cages.

Also the game isn't a trivia game as most report..it asks more brain teaser questions that you can either play against another person or just yourself against the clock...

I have around five or six complete working boardsets also...

Professor Pac is one of those games that I could see KLOVers arguing over price about, and there'd be valid arguments for both high and low offers, I think.

Therefore, I'd probably just list it on eBay if I had one to sell...

Next time you have to replace one of those edge connectors, send me the old one. I'll dig around the surplus places the next time I'm in the bay area to see if I can find some.

Klovers arguing over price...say it ain't so....more like arguing why they should get it for 50 bucks instead of whatever asking price you post for any game..klovers are the cheapest bastards out there so ebay or private sales are going to certainly yield you more shillings than this site....

I have some doubles..but they are different cabs....for ex.. I have star wars in cockpit and upright...
I have Make trax in upright and mini....I have super pacman in upright and cocktail...I have a few duplicate cabs..but most of those I've sold..only duplicates I have now are two bubbles..one is being re-stenciled and then sold..and I have two professor pacs as I stated before...some of the others you see listed like baby pac, foodfight, and Dig Dug..the duplicates were sold or traded.

For Jack the Giant killer I have all three version...the rarer naomi version cocktail..the rarer naomi version upright and the cinematronics upright..

The closest I have come to a working dedicated Professor Pac is one that was converted to Pac Land. Probably as close as I will come, ever. That's ok, though, the word is that it sucked real bad. If it hadn't, there would be a lot more still around. Apparently, it was bad enough that operators returned some of them to the distributors. That's pretty bad. I am a huge Pac fan but I think that I wouldn't really want one. The only value seems to be in being able to say that you have one, sheer rarity. Please correct me if I am wrong. Is it any fun at all to play?

I remember a member here having one here and he got it running and quickly sold it for a 1000?

this had too be between years 04 and 06

The game doesn't suck..its actually kind of fun and challenging when playing against a friend..I think it didn't take off for lots of reasons...
1. Its nothing like other pac games..there is no maze..etc..
2. When it came out the video game industry was shit already..
3. It never got a chance to get more software to be released with other brain teasers in different subject matter...it could have caught on depending on a lot of circumstances...but since that didn't happen it never even got a chance to appeal to certain masses...operators wanted money right away and this style game wasn't catered for that time period...

FYI...OregonPacman...that Professor Pacman that was converted to Pacland that you speak of..you or your boss sold that to me a long time ago...and I converted it back to Professor Pac..that game was sold to Dan in that large bulk buy that was supposed to be used for the Arcade Museum that never happened....I ended up finding it was sold to Charles from http://www.joystixamusements.com/ in Texas..of course Dan never paid me total price so I kept boards to it..so nice clean restored cab with no boards...I don't know if Charles tracked down a set or not..I was going to sell him a set to recoup some of my lost money but he never got back to me... The professor pac pictured on his site isn't mine..he stated he got mine for himself but last I spoke it needed the boardset....

Yeah, that was me. I didnt know if you remembered or not. It was only about 8 years ago. I played it a couple of times before it was shipped off but I never got into it.

You mean you played Pac-Land before it was shipped off to me...because that cab was converted..it still had some Professor Pac parts on cab like the Sideart and lower control panel plexi..but the wiring was hacked to shit..and I had to find an original control panel and marquee along with Professor Pac boardset and rewire...it was quite a pain in the ass to locate those parts but at least it was saved..until I sold it to Dan..and then is was sold as part of the liquidation...that game has traveled..:D

I have three cases of the edge connectors left. I just bought another boardset this week complete with cage.
If I remember right I paid $325 or $350 for mine then paid around $250 to ship it. Yes I think it is fun to play, just wish the context was more geared to older kids. It just seems kinda kindergarten like to me if you know what I mean. They had planned on having other romsets available but that never happened. I think the music and sounds are the best part of the game. It has stereo sound too which is uncommon for a pac game.
I have dedicated Pac, pac plus, jrpac, mspac, super pac, baby pac, pacmania, professor pac, pacland and mr & ms pacman pinball.
Believe it or not I had the hardest time finding the pacland. Still want to find one in better shape, mine is beat.

Dont forget alot of the professor pacs were shipped back and converted to paclands. If you find a pacland that has the lighted lower marquee then it was probably a professor pac. From what I hear they just left the professor lower marquee on there.

Yes Roadrunner has me beat on the pac stuff. He has them all and double of the professor pacs. In fact his collection is probably the nicest I have seen. If you like new in box, mint, restored, or just really clean original games then you will love his collection. Next time im in pittsburgh I hope to stop in and see your new gameroom.

I always wanted to get a Pac-Land in the lineup. Many fond memories of playing it at Great America when it just came out!

Any particular reason on it's rarity? Limited run? Bombed in the arcades? I remember seeing quite a few back then at Aladdin's Castle chains.....

Bad timing, it came out as the industry was tanking. And it bombed, a lot of people didn't understand the controls and others just didn't like the game. I liked it then and I like it now, very underrated.
