not sure if this applies but on the hexagon rotary sticks there is a nut on the inside of the plastic hexagon handle that can come loose. If it does sometimes the shaft will not rotate even though the actual plastic hexagon handle does. If the nut is just barely loose the shaft will often turn when rotated the direction that would tighten the nut but will not tun when rotated the opposite direction. There is a special tool that you use which inserts on the under side of the plastic hexagon handle. This tool depresses two tabs and allows the cap on the top of the handle to be removed. The nut I mention is under this cap on the inside of the plastic handle. If these are the sticks you have this could be the issue.
