I am having problem with it. It is having problems with it. The problem is when you turn it on it just goes to a light red screen. I took it and plug board into a jamma cabinet and board works if when you plug it into the jamma miss PAC and galaga can it has red on video and no sound nothing. Could it be the monitor or something else. Or multiple things.

Thanks

What happens when you coin it up, does it play blind in the Anniversary cabinet?

If so, I would think some kind of monitor fault.

If not, I'm leaning toward a power supply issue. How about a photo of what happens on screen?

When everything is on the only the that works is the monitor. It come on red. I give it credit and nothing happens. Does not credit can't here anything does not play blind nothing. So the. Power supply would would cause this problem with the monitor to turn red. I would have thought the monitor was going out.

Thanks

Sounds like your p.supply or the ac going to your p.s..
Red monitor just sounds like everything was maybe a little red before the game went and now your just seeing the raster which the red is being driven a little more then green and blue.
pot down the red and or adjust the other colors.

JAMMA cabs are pretty simple setups. Aside from controls, you have a power supply to run the board, the wiring, a display device, and the board.

You have stated that if you take the board out and try it in another JAMMA cab it works. So you can eliminate the board as an issue.

Though possible, it's unliklely that anything happened to the wiring. Possibly the edge connector though, so do check that out.

A monitor displaying red can mean many things, but as the board is working in another cabinet, but not in this one and not even playing blind, I'm leaning toward a power supply issue. Have you even metered the voltages yet?

With any situation where a game is not working, metering voltages is a basic first step. If your board is getting flakey voltages, it can cause all kinds of issues. For all you know the PS failed and is putting out 2VDC, or failed the other way and is putting out 8VDC!

Thanks for everybody that has gave their thoughts on whats wrong..This will help me out. I was wondering if it is the power supply. I was wondering if I could put one of these power supplies in..1st a Powermaster XII 27-607900 it has +12v 2a, -5v 1a, +5v 12a and the second one is Hitron HSA-130 it has +12v 1a, -5v 1a, and +5 7a. Was wondering if anyone of these would work..

thanks

I took a meter to the ps. I got 120 to 121v, the +5v I got 4.5v, and the 12v I got 10.3. Those numbers are really not off by much would the 12v have caused the problem. I have a Powermaster XII 27-607900 it has +12v 2a, -5v 1a, +5v 12a would this work. Whats on it now is happs ps. it is -5v 1a, +12v 4a, and +5v 15a.

thanks

The numbers are off by a HUGE amount. On the board itself you generally want to have ~5.1VDC. Measuring from the power supply, you're about half a volt off. Can't imagine how much resistance the harness is bringing that down further.

1) clean the edge connector with a "pink pearl" eraser. Yes, it makes a difference, use that brand.

2) put the leads of the meter in the harness where you can watch the reading. Slowly turn the voltage up.

I will look into that. The only thing is I can't turn up the ps anymore it is turned up as high as it will go. Thought if that when I metered it. Can I use the one I mentioned or will it not work.

Thanks

That power supply should work just fine. And if it's already cranked, either:

A) you have a power supply issue (likely the capacitors require replacing, or

B) you have a another issue that's driving the overall voltage down. I think a short would do that. I think.

Likely it's A. Those cabs don't like to breathe.

Thanks it's a power supply issue. I change it out and everything is working now.

Thanks again.

Dam..that is like the fifth PS I've seen go in these newer machines...pretty shitty quality when you consider some of the old games have PS over 30 years old and still kicking...:D
