I have a shuffleshot. I can't seem to get it to coin up. I can put on free play and work but when I put on coins it won't coin up. I have checked all the wiring it seems to be all in order. I hooked up anther set of working mechs and didn't work. This all happened when I put a credit button on it on along time ago. Haven't played it for awhile and then when I decided to I couldn't credit up game with button. So, I took credit button off. And thought worked. Well it didn't it would always go into service mode. I hooked up game on me gt and will coin up and everything. So I know it's not the board. I did notice that when I turned on game. It would always goto sevice mode when i did all this from start. That was when I realized all this happened. This machine was setup for 4 coin mechs. Can somebody tell me what wires goes with this setup to make sure this is right. My guess is there is something that came loose but I can't seem to find it. Been trying to find problem for about 5 to 6 hours and can't find nothing out of the ordinary. If I could get some peoples input that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Probably have a broken ground going to the coin door, or to the mechs. Usually the ground wire is chained from one mech to the other. Make sure you have a ground at the coin door - put your meter on continuity, and connect one lead the the COM terminal on the power supply, and start probing around the coin door - you should find that one terminal on each coin switch (usually the bottom one) is connected to ground. If you don't have ground anywhere, then there's your problem.

I did noctice that the ground to the coin mechs is going to the service switch. Then the sevice switch to the harness. Could this be my problem. Should disconnect from sevice switch and run a separate ground to the coin mechs instead of it going to the sevice switch.

Thanks in advance

I did noctice that the ground to the coin mechs is going to the service switch.

ALL switches require a ground.

Since it goes into service mode as soon as you turn it on.... I would check that you do not have one of the switches wired wrong. Coin mechs will have a COM (ground) and NO (normally open). Make sure the service switch isn't just stuck closed, it should be OPEN as well. (no continuity between terminals unless button is pushed)

I have continuity to all 4 coin mechs. Should the service switch be 2 way or 3 way. It's 2 way with 3 wires coming out. 2 ground wires and pos. One ground going to coin mech and one going to harness. I am assuming switch is in right position. For one way won't let me get out of sevice mode and if I flip other way it will. I thought the switch was bad so I put new one one there like the one that was on there before.

Thanks in advance

I want say thanks

Thanks retrohacker and Kevinmullins for helping me out. Figured it out and got coin mechs to work and sever switch to work properly now.

Thanks again guys

New problem

I got the coin mechs to work. Now when I leave game on for long lengths of time it goes into serice mode. I am not sure what's cuasing this. I thought it was because I unhooked the sevice switch. So I put it back on and now it goes into service mode after being on for awhile not playing just going thru it's I am guessing the screen saver part. Does anybody know why this is doing that.

Thanks in advance
