Hey guys I need yalls advice. I bought two Playchoice 10 games from a guy on ebay (Duck Hunt and Wild Gunmen). When I got them in the mail today I immediately inserted them into my playchoice 10 game slots. I turned the game on, and I could see and play Wild Gunmen, but the Duck Hunt was all periods where the name should have been located. I took the game pcb out and looked at the pins. I found one of the pins broken in half and bent over. I straightened the pin out, and re-inserted the game pcb back on the game board and it works now, but the pin is still broken in half. My question(s) is: Should I return it? Notify the seller? Ask for a new game? Ask for my money back?
Thanks guys!
Greg

PS: Just to give yall some back info I bought them in sperate auctions on ebay (from the same seller obviously). WG for $33 and DH for $13.

If it were me personally, I would mention the DH is bad, and ask for a refund. Then if he says he wants the item back (after you just got it working), I'd then mentioned I fixed it but it still needs a small repair, and I want to keep it, how about a partial refund?

Worst case scenario is you spent $13 on a working game that "might" need some attention later. I'm sure the chip is replaceable if need be.

Humm..

I'd just play the game and not worry about it.. As it works :)
This is used vintage equipment :) not to mention.. It was $13..

Both games were listed as untested so the seller won't do anything. Also you could have bent the pin if you didn't check them before installing.

I always visually inspect each game before it goes on the board and in extreme cases I let get to room temp.

Why are you even worried about this? Do you want the Duck Hunt seller to reimburse you for half the cost? $6.50? Really? Part of this hobby (for most of us) is to fix our own stuff, and you fixed it. Let it go.

Yeah, per your description, the pin could have gotten bent by you when you put it in. As it works now, either fix the broken pin yourself, or leave it alone - and enjoy the game...

I was not trying to be cheap, if that is what you are implying.

I think he was responding to my post. But yeah, I just threw that out there. You still got a working game for $13, I wouldnt worry about it. Did you buy these untested? It's a moot point anyway if you did.

greg. great post:) I picked up a tysons punch out once that worked great until I got to the second fight and then it stopped working:( I wasnt sure what the protocol was as these boards can be sensitive in shipping so I just didnt do anything (like contact the seller) and ended up selling it as a non working board

I have decided to keep the game, but I thought your idea was good. I will use it in the future if needed, so thank you. Yes, I did buy the game untested. The funny thing is that I was viewing the item on my cell phone, and failed to notice that it was untested until Rory posted his reply. I am calling it a wash; the seller said in was untested, but it works so I am happy. Thanks for the post though.

i don't think he was implying your cheap, more that it's just not damaged enough to worry about any kind of refund. Personally, i would just make the minor repair and not worry about it. I had some boards i bought from someone on here, and they arrived with almost all the pins on both boards bent to hell. I mentioned it to them, and then spent the time to straighten them all out myself.

what's up greg, glad to see you got a WG and DH. did your gun work when you insatalled it? last time you were over you hadnt installed it yet, i still need to pick up a DH just been lazy. by the way did you see this post http://houston.craigslist.org/vgm/2105904337.html i called him hes at 290 and bingle, he's got 2 star wars for $600 (probably less) just keeping an eye out.

I had the gun on lay away for a while, but finally ordered it last week. I should be getting the gun today. I will know by tonight if everything works properly. Yea, I have been keeping an eye out on CL for my next purchase, nothing new yet though. Just been buying things for the Playchoice lately.

If it dosen't show up in the menu screen it is either a bad name chip (U3) or a bad security chip. I can shoot you a new name chip next time I'm burning, but if it is the security chip, you're SOL.

Hey Pete,
Thanks for the info. It ended up being a broken pin. The gold pins that plug into the game board: one of them was broken in half and bent over. I bent it back into position, and the game worked (even though it was still broken in half). So, I guess add this bit of info to your trouble shooting knowledge, but I am sure you already knew to check the pins as it is usually one of the first things done when there is a problem.
TTYL,
Greg

I have no way to test my Nintendo stuff so the auction clearly stated

"My first auction went pretty well so I decided to list another cart. Cartridge is used an untested. Please bid accordingly."

That's why I say to bid accordingly......its untested.

Untested and $13 and your talking about a refund. Then you say you decided to just keep it? Thanks for doing the seller for a favor by keeping an untested board that works. What a goof.

That is why I didn't mention it to you, and left a positive feedback on ebay (with 5 stars).

It didn't happen in that sequence; maybe you should read all the posts before you chime in...
