I have a Galaga pcb with an enhancement pack installed. When I removed it to return the board to its original state, the bullets sprite disappeared completely. You could hear the shots, but they werent showing on screen. I looked closer at the board and there was a chip at 3J with a "Galaga Enhancement" custom label. I don't recall this chip being a part of the Galaga enhancement pack. Anyone know what's going on?

Looks like I'm going to need a new G5 chip, as I can't find the original and the one on my spare pcb doesn't work. Anyone know where I can get one quickly?

Popped in the new chip and this is what I get on screen:

Don't know what to make of that

The only definite way to tell is to dump the EPROMs and run them through romident.

What happens when you restore the PCB with the enhancement pack? Does the board still run ?

These boards can be very flaky...

Yes, the game works perfectly fine with the enhancement pack. It worked perfectly fine before the enhancement pack. But now it won't run without it.

I would check the DIP switch settings, just return them all to off and see what happens.

If there are 4 sets of roms, shouldn't there be four different twin galaxies world record categories?

Still haven't figured this out...going to have to go buy an entire new pcb apparently

The Namco and Midway pcbs are different, can you post a pic of yours? This will eliminate 50% of the 3j ROMs you need. Steph @hobbyroms can help with burning...

But in the meantime, have you turned all the dips to off and check if the game works with the 3j from your spare pcb?

Also, possibly needs the CPU socket replaced (particularly if you've still got the original single wipe socket). The enhancement kit pins are thicker than the CPU pins, so it may have bent the socket so it's not be making good contact with the CPU by itself anymore.
