Probably an easy one - disclolored corner of monitor...

So I picked up a new cabinet and top left corner of the screen is discolored (purple tint?). I looked at the back and I can see that metal braided wire isn't making contact with the monitor along that corner (i'm pretty sure it's purpose is for degaussing???). Anyway, I imagine I just need to get it back into place and the problem should be fixed, right? If so, I just wanted to check and see if there's any chance of me getting shocked or anything when touching this wire (it's kind of close to the anode cap so I know to be careful around there, but any other helpful recommendations?). Thanks, here's a picture of the problem area too...

I can't see on your picture.. but it sounds like your degausser wire...

you could also try degaussing it yourself... borrow a degausser.. some guys have tried using an electric drill and running it and using it like a degausser..

unplug your monitor before moving the braided wire.. dont touch the anode cap and you should be safe enough...

or casually tell your wife to do it while you adjust 'something' on the front...

lol...ok sounds good. and if I just get that wire back into place it should fix it? (it's actually the black wire, didn't mean the 'braided one'). I'll give it a shot and see if it helps. Thanks.

Definitely tie it up closer to the metal mounting tab.
Turn the monitor off for awhile, @ 20 minutes or so, then fire it back up.

I tied the wire closer, but it didn't seem to help at all. I will wait a while and fire it up again though. Any other suggestions?

That braid didn't have anything to do with your problem. that big black wrapped wire going around the outside is for the degaussing, and it should be connector to your monitor via a connector.

Rotate the game 45-degrees and you'll most likely see the corner change more. Get a manual degausser and you should be fine...

$25 at Arcadeshop...

Just an update, got my degausser in the mail today. It worked great on the first try, problem is fixed. Thanks for the help!
