Hello,

I am new to this forum, but have been collecting games for several years. I am about to pick up a Warlords machine that has been in someone's house for over 25 years. It appears to be in immaculate condition and is fully working. I saw that several folks in this community are looking for this machine, so I figured I would offer it up to people here before listing it on ebay. I would keep it, but I am strapped right now and think that this one should go to a collector that will really appreciate it. Please let me know what a reasonable price for an upright of this game is- considering it is in great condition and also let me know if you have an offer you would like to make. I should have pics in a day or two. Thanks!

I have stated my state in my profile

I am not opposed to stating my location, but some folks like to try to get into deals and I don't want anyone messing this one up for me. I have commitment on the sale, but you know how it goes. I am really interested in "what is a typical price for this game", and also want to see if anyone here is interested so that we can avoid ebay and make everyone happy.

Your general attitude about this leads me to give you this advice:

say hi to ebay for me.

And your state is not in your profile.

For the record, you will find plenty of folk more than willing to give you face value for a Warlords with no questions asked. No need to be all uber secretive and cryptic. Just be up front and your good to go. A cocktail is generally worth much more than an upright though.

Hey Wiz...welcome to the forums. Warlords is indeed a highly sought after game. However the cocktail sit-down, 4 player version is the one most collectors drool over. I have an upright, not in immaculate shape but not beat-up either, that I paid $200.00 for. I've tried to sell it a couple times and never got any serious interest in it. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fun game for 2 players, but certainly not as popular or sought after as the cocktail version. Sorry to rain on your parade.

Thanks.

I guess I should have just put out a price check post out - like others I see, rather than provide any other detail. Not trying to be secretive, and didn't think I had an attitude about it, but I have been burned by other game collectors making calls on games in the past, as I am sure you have as well. Been on KLOV for many years, but have not posted on this forum, as I have heard that some people are pretty territorial and unfriendly over here. Just trying to put it out there for other game lovers to get a chance at. I can certainly put it on ebay, no problem.

thanks for the info Syngefinger

I appreciate your post, definitely gives me a better idea of what is reasonable. This one appears to be in really good shape, but you never know till you are in front of it. I am not a flipper, but figured I would pick it up as it is near another game I am looking for. If someone out here would like it I would try to work with them, otherwise I will probably list it on ebay and see what happens.

Upright really isn't worth much; $200 is about right depending on condition.

After you get it post a location and of course pictures to get a better idea of worth, as location also plays a factor in the price.

If it's pristine it might pull in more money... obviously location is key too... I was thinking more in the 500 range for a mint example... and obviously it depends on how long you want to sit on it, whether you can find the right buyer, etc...

So your gaining interest in the sale of a game thats not even yours yet wondering how much profit youll be making. if your worried about someone "messing it up" then why not wait till you have the game in your possession? doesnt that make more sense?

Good luck

Thanks to those that have been helpful

Thanks to those that have been helpful on my first post. I guess I should have just put out a price-check post, so the post police did not have to jump on it. Just trying to see if it is a game I should consider picking up. I have gotten lots of games for other people in the past and had others do it for me. If there is interest in the game than I would probably buy it. Not trying to make tons of profit, just cover my expenses and stoke someone out on a pretty hard to find title. I guess I will be much more cautious to post in the future or pick my words more carefully than I need to with my wife.

Again, THANK YOU to the folks that have been helpful and just wanted to provide good info to someone who does not know a lot about this title.

Anyone ever consider modding an upright for four players? The board will support it. Maybe two wired remote controls? You would not have to hack the cab. Warlords is one of my favs.

if i were you i would not take less than 500 for it. its not like you can go buy one at wal-mart. nice find and good luck!!

No problem, it is part of your username

I was actually referring to myself, and thanking the nice people for providing me with info, since I do not know a lot about this title.

Man, this is a pretty tough crowd

I did not think I was being cryptic, just planning on picking up the game and wanted to see what was a reasonable amount for it and if anyone was interested I would pass it through. I have always thought of myself as somewhat of an enigma, and like the idea of being mysterious, but did not think I was being that way here. Maybe it is just my nature and I did not even realize it!
This is a tough crowd, I would hate to go head to head with some of these guys on games, or I guess I would love it!
I think we are all talking about the same game, and it is cool to see others in Michigan on here. Yes, I live in Michigan, now everyone knows, and I am no longer that mysterious guy that shows up asking questions and not providing my personal info.
And yes, it will be hard to get $500 up here in the mitten as games are not going for much at all these days and people up here are very strapped for cash.
