Looking for thoughts on using this type of paint. Glidden Duo or Behr primer+paint and has anyone used these? Searched the forums and either this topic hasnt been brought up or my search-fu wasnt working correctly.

:D

These are the all in 1 primer+paint type?

No I prefer to prime then paint.
The primer helps to see little flaws before painting.
Nothing worse than to paint and find a flaw that needs to be fixed.
I use sandable primer in a rattle can for small areas and high build for larger areas.

Agreed. I'm painting a cab right now, and the primer is making the flaws really stand out. If I had put the paint on at the same time, it would be a lot more challenging to fix the flaws without redoing a good portion of it.

Here, I can put a little more filler in over the primer, then sand and hit with another coat of primer.

Use an automotive building primer that you can use to do the levelling process. Easily found at auto parts stores.

Totally agree with just primer first on a cab.

That being said the Behr premium ultra is some of the best paint ever for general painting around the house or whatever. Even on bare cement or new walls one coat and you are done. Even on heavy stucco the stuff just rocks. Covering an old color? No problem. Great stuff, just not for arcade games. If you are painting anything else yes it costs a little more but the ability to do almost no prep and cover anything in one coat it can't be beat.

I have the primer and paint in one by Valspar.

Any major imperfections should be discernible and corrected before you put the first coat of primer on.

The primer/paint I picked up allows me one less step along with the waiting and I still have the option of sanding and going over it again if I want.
