so the monitor in my primal rage is dead right now and the alpha 2 board went poof when i put a battery in it only to find out the battery i was sent was dead, and now they won't respond to me about it..... i want to play the game... can i just take the board out of primal rage and place it into my street fighter and it work?

Mostly, yes. Primal Rage is 4 buttons, apparently that's accomplished by the start button and button 4 being the same connection. Alpha 2 has a kick harness for extra buttons, so playing PR would be wierd as to button layout, but the game itself would function just fine in the SF cabinet.

Hey don't forget you can get the CPS2 phoenixed.

Of course there are other people out there who can phoenix CPS2s...

yea i have been in contact with a person about getting that done... right now its all about $$$$... the reason i was asking about swaping the game is my SF doesn't have a connnector on it like the PR im guessing its for the sound.... its a plug on the daughter card..

ok so i swapped it out.. i didn't get anything on the screen but i looked at the board and the 5vlow light was on........ put it back in the PR cab and turn it on and i here it play blind....

ummm thats out of my know how on these... where would i turn it up.. it has the big metal powersupply... not the cool little happ switcher.....

There should be a knob on the side of the power supply, but don't turn it up without being able to observe what you are doing. Do you have a volt meter?

yep got one of those. ill have to pull the cab out of its spot so i can fiddle with the power suppply. what kinda range should my 5v be in?

The 5vdc should be 5.05 to 5.10 as observed on the board. Usually if you put in the higher end of this range coming out of the switcher you will be fine on the board.

5.0 to 5.15 is usually a good range. The voltage at the power supply is one thing, the voltage at the harness could be another, and the voltage actually getting to the roms may be lower. If you're checking the power supply and it's in that range but still not coming on, check at the harness and adjust if necessary, then if it's still not coming on, check at one of the rom chips on board (someone here should be able to specify which pins to check on a rom).

so which pin (i am assuming on the jamma harness) do i need to test. just use a jamma pin out sheet and check it there first?

like i said i put it back in its home and it fires right up.. but when in the street fighter cab the 5vlow light is on..

Counting from the end with the key the first two pairs of pins should be grounds with black wires. The next two pairs of pins should be the +5vdc with red wires.

ok so after i figure that out what do i do about these?

What are the numbers of those connectors? I don't remember plugging anything like that into my PR board, but they just look like power connectors +5vdc and +12vdc to me...

the bottom one on the main board says. jxpwr and the one on the daughter card is jpwr. and in the cab wiring there is another connector just like that one. just hanging out in the wiring right next to these...

Looking at the schematics in the manual, it looks like that may be a connector carrying power from the main board to the daughter card. Should be 9 positions:

JXPWR
1 - +5
2 - +5
3 - KEY
4 - GND
5 - GND
6 - +12
7 - +12
8 - -5
9 - GND

So black lead on 4 or 5, red lead on 1 or 2 should give you a reading that should be 5-5.15. The manual lists the same voltages on the same pins for JMPWR though it notes them a little differently, so I'm not entirely sure what that's about. JMPWR is listed as RBUS Power and JXPWR is listed as XBUS Power, maybe someone more familiar with the board will have some insight on that.

Wait, I think Primal Rage is using a strange jamma interpretation that is not 100% compliant, isnt it? It could be dangerous to swap those boards without being careful

I plug Primal Rage into my Jamma fighter cab (SFII) and it works fine with the exception of the sound. The button configuration is odd, and it is supposed to be wired for stereo sound instead of the normal Jamma mono but plugging it in and playing it will not hurt the board.
