Star Trek Boardset for 399.95?!?!?!

WTF??? Seriously.. it looks like most of the stuff this Chattanooga Pinball place sells is way over priced. Has anyone ever delt with them?

That is probably the pcb out of my cabinet. He gave me an extraordinarily good deal on the unit and I took it. I couldn't afford the whole thing. For the going rate of these working games that is probably right.

Yes, the prices that Dale has on most of his ebay auctions are way high relative to what those here would pay, but he's a retailer, his target audience in those auctions isn't us, it's people with more money than time. I picked up an MK boardset from an auction of his last week at a price which I was happy with and at the same time asked if he had a particular cp I was looking for around the shop. I'd asked him a couple questions about the MK which he answered quickly, and he dug around in the shop and found a CP that's what I was looking for (had to dig for a couple days to find it), which he sold me at a very reasonable price, and both got here quickly. Talked to him a couple times on the phone, both times he was nothing but nice. While he has certainly kirked on people in the past, for the most part those were situations where I'd be irritated with a buyer myself, though wouldn't have necessarily had the magnitude of reaction he did, and he's said himself that he went a bit out there in those cases. He's still here and still seems to be an okay guy despite the amount people have piled on him about prices. Bottom line, basic capitalism, if it's a price you're willing to pay, do so, enjoy your purchase, but if not, just keep walking. When people are okay with the price and pay promptly, they've seem to had good experiences with him, case in point NathanJ and the Star Trek cockpit. I wouldn't get near a price like that boardset or the cabs priced at 3 grand I could get for 3 hundred, but based on how I was treated with the random cp ask, if I have something odd I'm looking for in the future which I'm having issues sourcing, I'll probably ping him and see if he can scare it up at a decent price.

Can we please bury this dead horse, it's been beat about 20 feet into the ground. I'm only posting this because I've kept quiet up until now, having not dealt with him directly, and I finally feel I can make an informed decision about my personal experience with him, but I'm done with the topic. Mortal kombat is a ton of fun, btw. :)

Hate to rag on anybody, but if you have to ask this question, then you obviously only read one single thread whenever you visit this site once every two months.

That's like saying, "Is Phetishboy really gay?" Anyone who's been around for a while and actually reads the majority of the postings on here already knows the answer is - "Yes. Flaming."
;)

One of these days I'll download the MJ popcorn gif

WAIT.... Phet flaming????? I figured a blown out match at best....Wow!

Back on topic.... That does seem HIGH to me.

Smoke it if you have it I guess.

Look guys I sell a lot of items oversea's and yes I get those prices oversea's and some here. I do not think most on here will pay that and if one of my fellow Klov brothers need somethng I will do my best to get it of them at a price we are both happy with. But that being said the guy who started this thread is the same guy who emailed me bitching about the price and saying I will never get. Why does it brother him if he does not have a dog in the hunt. Some people just need to bitch. Funny, why does he care what I charge and if I get that for my board set then all the stuff that a lot of the guys sell cheap on here should send it to me and let me sell it for them. Business is business but I still look at this as a brother hood on here no matter how many people hate me. I will always try to help a fellow Klover but everyone else is FAIR GAME.

I refuse to believe anyone would pay 400 for just the boardset when just last week another untested boardset sold on e-bay for less than 80 dollars. It makes no sense..especially with the downturn the economy has taken.

You must not of heard the news the economy is fixed. Refuse all you want but people do buy this stuff for what I ask for it. We have near half a million is sales so far this year. Not bad for a bad economy. I know you think I am over priced but I do not set the prices the market does and if the market is paying these prices shoudl I just lower my prices for the hell of it?

agreed the econemy has really turned up i went from selling 1 multi a month to now in the past 2 months i have sold at least 5 and have recived deposits for 3 more and now im not getting people that are trying to knock me down to 100-200$ they are hapily paying 600-700 $
i could probaly raise my price and still keep selling them at this point

the econemy hit my trade hard (small aircraft repair and custom interiors)and i was laid off about 7 months ago
so now mabey i can find a job and stop having to rely on these multi's to pay my bills

If you want the boardset then make an offer. If you dont , then get over it and move on....seriously. Hate to sound harsh but the price police threads really need to stop.

Couldn't agree more.
And hey RLEVIN is a nice guy as far as I seen here on KLOV so as far as I'm concerned let the guy make some money, why not??
Anyhow: I'm getting a Rolling Thunder so I ain't complaining :D

While I shake my head in disbelief over (what I personally think) is outrageous asking prices, I can also understand that guys overhead HAS to be outrageous as well. He's not running this business out his house. I'm not bitching about the prices, he is clearly selling games or he wouldn't be in business right? Yep.
And reading the prior threads about Dale he does mention he does take offers that are usually considerably less than listed. Does anyone realize this is no different than taking comps on your house? If the dude across the street sells his house for big bucks it only drives the price of your house up. Technically Dale is helping increase the value of our stuff heh heh.
I friggin hate when rationalizing costs me more money ;)

PS - I'm not ever paying Dale prices :p

How can you compare the price of a working board vs an untested board?

I've never dealt with RLEVIN, but here is what I know:
1. His prices are very high
2. He sells a lot of stuff at those prices
3. He'll give you a deal if you ask nicely (but remember, this stuff is selling at the higher prices)
4. He doesn't have to move inventory quickly, so he can sit on high prices
5. He seems to be a nice guy
6. KLOV users are not his target demographic
7. He does not give free moon pies with every order
8. There are way too many threads about his prices
