Hello KLOV brethren. I got tipped off on the possibility of picking up a dedicated Robby Roto. I was told it looks like it just came out of the factory and is pristine. I have never seen one of these for sale or in person so I have two questions:

Is the game cool or totally lame?

What would a reasonable price be for it - both in pristine condition (if it actually is) or in general?

Thank you for any input you can provide!

Be prepared for an onslaught of "IT SUCKS" comments! :D

Personally I don't think it's a bad game, it's just that the graphics look a little cheesy. If you do happen to get it I think it's one of those games which has a battery that tends to leak all over the PCBs, so replace that ASAP if you do.

As far as price goes I can't hazard a guess.

The gameplay is alright - kind of average. It doesn't suck, but it's not really great either.

I like the cabinet. It's like a Galaga, except the cabinet sides curve outward past the marquee.

thanks for the info gents. it sounds like my buddy loaded it up and will bring it here tomorrow if I say I am into it for sure.

Any idea what a reasonable price to pay for one is? I guess it really is in incredible shape and may even be serial number 2

I have one - but the board doesnt work... I've been wanting to get mine going for a while now but nobody repairs the boards. My cabinet is in excellent shape as well. I dont care if the game play sucks - its a cool looking rare game.

Does pristine equal working? If memory serves they have a battery on the CPU board. That is obviously a potential problem. It may still work, for a while, even if the battery has started to leak. Then again, I may be recalling incorrectly.

It does seem like a very cool cab and if it is actually #2, I guess I have to get it. He mentioned the "M" word (multi) if I don't get it. Have you actively tried to get the board fixed? I am a little leery that it may have a board issue as well given what some people have said, so I need to consider how tough it may be to resurrect.

Good question, he said it is in incredible shape, but does not know if it works. I told him I needed it working for the price we talked about. He said he did not turn it on and just loaded it into his truck. It has been sitting for many years, so the potential battery problem is definitely something I need to look at right away.

Sounds like these boards are a PITA to work on if it does not work.
