I found a Mortal kombat 2 on CR. The guy is asking $176. After emailing his he told me he put it in his barn 9 years ago and it worked they but he has not touched it since he also told me he has a noe geo 4 slot for $150. He also told me he would not try to use the MK2 untill it is cleaned. I just emailed him telling him I have to assume they do not work and my offer would reflect that. I offered him $220 for both. I have not seen any picks of them, he sey his cammera was not working and he would not be able to get picks untill SUN. I offer to come out and look at them and he sed he really has no time untill Sun. but not sure if he would have the time then or not. Is my offer way to low of am I close to what they are worth without know if they work? I have also told him my offer is if the cabs are not rotton. I just figure if the cabs are good and the rest is no good then the price I offered was worth it for the cabs and the neo goe does have 4 games with it. I just feel like the guy is blowing me off and waiting for a higher offer.

Have a buddy of yours e mail him, telling him that he wants to come out today and has cash. And have your buddy tell him that he can not make it on Sunday that he has to take his mom to church. If the guy says sure come on out, then go with him. When you get there have your buddy say "oh man these are real bad and i don't think they are worth that" and then pass on them. Then you jump in and say well i might give you xxx amount for them. This way you find out if he was blowing you off, and you get them cheap.

Not out of line at all for sight unseen, hell maybe even too high. I hold to the $100 max for complete but not working games like those in decent condition. Monitor might cost you a hundred alone as well as $100 for board repair. Once you have seen them, who knows what kind of shape that barn is in as far as keeping out the elements and critters.

I like this strategy!

Before I made any offer I told him I would come out and look at them with cash in hand, that was Fri. and he told me he would not have time untill Sun. I just think it is funny he listed them on cl but now he has no time to sell them.

I offered $100 for the MK2 and thought the neo geo was worth a little more since it has 4 games thats where I came up with the $220. I am worred mice might have chewed things up.

just depends on condition they might be a great deal for that price.. or could be krap.

One way to find out lol..

My rule of thumb with non working games is $40-100 ish with most in the 50-75 range. Mabye more if its something super desirable like a personal grail of yours or a tron/tempest/starwars etc

You probably shouldn't have even made an offer for any particular amount. If they were found in a barn, they are 99.9% likely to have mouse crap in them. His resistance to turn them on until they are cleaned out pretty much makes it 100%.

Being in a barn & if water got too them they are probably junk. I would not make a offer unless I could see the cabs. You just might be buying someones elses junk

I emailed him the offer this morning and have not heard anything back, he has been very quick with responces untill today. I am going over to my parents house tomorrow and might email him from there account and see what happens. He told me he had 5 people who wanted to look at the MK2, I am almost thinking he is waiting to see if they offer more.

personally, i have yet to see a game stored for years in a barn that was put there supposedly working that still worked when removed years later, but hey, anything is possible.

I justg went and looked at them, very supprised hoe good they look. I have one at home right now and will be heading back to get the other in a little bit. I hope they work, picks to come later.

The mortal kombat works just fine. The neo geo powers on but only shows a grid on the screen. Still need some cleaning, there was a lot of bird poop.

The grid on the screen is what you get with no carts plugged in.
