Is there any place to use as a price guide for arcade machines. For the most part I get machines free or barter but lots of people hit me up to buy there games. I dont mind pay for a game but the prices they are wanting WOW. I have one guy contacts me every couple of weeks asking me to buy his in working condition "but in need of repair" ????Pac Man for $600 and "thats a bargain ebay wants $2000"+. While I know $600 is to much and Ebay is no place to use as a reference but is my $100 offer to little or to much.Just asking how yall price a game before you make an offer to buy or sell?
Thanks
Walter

depends on what you mean in need of repair? I've seen working pac man and ms pac man games that are original and in nice condition but with some fading sell in the $800 I'm gonna guess at $600 he might be asking a bit much but at $100 you are going for the low end offer. I'd say $200-300 is more reasonable but it's very hard to call without knowing in detail what the game needs.

All he can tell me is nothing powers up. His pic shows a OK cabinet and from my house to his its a 2 hour drive. So ill pay $100 for a good cabinet and spare parts anything above that is just a bonus

Everything is worth a bajillion dollars. ;)

Not powering up, I would say 100 is a fair starting point. A lot of other things obviously factor in.

Maybe I read wrong. I thought you said he had a working game that needed repairs. I took that to mean it needed some cosmetic work. If it doesn't power up it's not working in my book. Unless he has another machine and can test parts such as the board monitor ect. If he can prove which components work then it's probably worth more but non working I'd say $100 is fair.

You read it correctly its now edited to read correctly. This is the point im trying to get him to understand it went in storage working <--Working and now not <--needs repairs. as far as I care its a parts machine. But never fails he will send me another email in a week or two I guess Ill just block his emails.

I still have the Pac Man game I have been telling you about. I did a little research and found that over time the fuses get weak and go bad. This is prob the case here. I want the thing gone soon but want to get what its worth. Call me at -------------- maybe we can meet in the middle $400-$450

Welcome fellow Houstonian, $400 is way too much for a non-working Pac, I've sold working Ms Pac for less than that.
You can buy working ones at the Mesquite auction for around $200-$250 range.
The most I would pay for a non-working but complete Pac/Ms Pac would be $100 and it would have to be in pretty good shape.

It's always those darn fuses!

In this case it's very possible. Pac's are notorious for this. Thats how I picked up my Ms. Pac-Man pretty cheap. Fuses and fuse blocks are a cheap and easy replacement. Might also still have that pesky filter PCB causing problems.

Sounds like theres no way the guy will take $100, but it also sounds like he really wants to move it. If you really want it, show him 2 or 3 benjamins and say "take it or leave it".
