I posted a game for sale for $250 or for trade and listed a bunch of possibles, including XYBots. I got a reply offering an XYBots for cash. I asked if $250 was acceptable and the other guy said "you know what they go for. I am not wanting to get top market but I do want a fair price." Isn't $250 a fair price? Should I hold firm on this?
My rationale: The eBay "I wish" price for this unit has been $600-$800 for the most part. (Someone has one up for a grand right now but that ain't happening in this lifetime.) Typical "real prices" are a third of wish prices or less. The game is not a high earner for my arcade so I would be getting it mainly because I like it personally. Finally, I'm not sure it's worth it to me to pay more than $250, and I'd actually prefer $200 or less, but I'm a bit hemmed in by having made the trade offer that effectively offers in that value range, so I am willing to honor that.
The seller says it works 100% and even though this isn't a grail game by any stretch of the imagination, I'd hate to let a good unit go over what might end up being a small price differential. Of course if the guy wants anything over $300, I don't think I even consider it. It's just too much for that equipment, and to even offer the three I would have to see it as a near-perfect specimen I think. He hasn't proffered a number so maybe he's just poker-facing me and has no idea of its value, typical of most "storage wars" / "pawn stars" CLers.
Thoughts?
