Hello klovrs- hoping some folks can help me estimate the value of a Wizard of Wor cabaret? I personally, have never seen one and came across a really nice one that I will most likely be picking up in trade this week. All the art is there, marquee, CPO, and the cab sounds very clean. He also has a really pristine upright. If anyone can fill me in on the cabaret and how rare it is compared to the upright and possible price/value that would be great. Thanks!

Not sure about the cabaret value, but a really nice upright should bring somewhere around the $300 to $400 range. (I paid $300 for mine, fully working with repro control panel and CPO, about 4 years ago.)

If it were me, I wouldn't even be aiming for the cabaret if a nice full-size is available. The cabaret isn't that much smaller, and doesn't look anywhere as nice. Go for the full-blown upright, I say.

Plus that game is so much better with a partner and a cabaret might be a little tight, have never played one, just surmising.

The uprights are easier to find and usually cheaper, depending on condition of course. If you found a nice clean cabaret, with good looking cp and bezel artwork, it is worth more than a standard ur IMHO. They are harder to find in nice shape.

Thanks

Thanks for inputs. I am not a huge fan of most cabarets as they usually lack the level of artwork of their upright brothers, but this one seems a bit more detailed. I have seen several WofW uprights, but never a cabaret, so I thought they may be pretty rare. The upright he has is in amazing shape, so I think I am going to get both from the guy in a trade this week since I don't currently have a cabaret in the quiver.

I love how you customized your Avatar for this thread. I get a real kick out of how I see that Avatar get changed across peoples' posts. I did not realize where it came from till I was on yahoo the other day and saw the original. That is great!

I love the cabarets because I'm in a tiny 1 bedroom condo and they do not take up as much space/make the room look so small. That said, most people don't remember them as well from back in the day, so despite being rarer they are usually not as sought after. Of course the lack of side art may have a bit to do with that as well.

+1.

They allow me to have an arcade where I live rather than just one machine. Plus, some of them are really well built and look pretty cool.

Side art was available for cabErets but it had to be

order from the manufacturer and most owners never

Bothered to get it.

If you haven't seen a cabaret, here's the one at Star Worlds Arcade in Dekalb IL. If anyone made it to the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee last weekend, you might have seen it, as he had it there for a tournament.

Nice, thanks for adding that pic! It is actually a really cool cabaret. The 13s usually look pretty small IMO, but with it turned horizontally it does not look too bad. I also like that the marquee lights up- it seems like that inviting glow is what is missing from some cabarets.

I hear peeps on the size. I can barely fit a gumball machine in the gameroom these days, so I am trying to sell a few games off in anticipation of 4-5 more coming in within the next week. Hopefully some life-long dreams will be realized with this next wave-fingers crossed. But I have always wanted a nice cabaret down there so I am going to move on these WoWs.

Keep in mind that there isn't a world of difference in size between the standard upright and cabaret when it comes to WoW.

The full size cab is pretty small and light.

i would get an upright. it's cooler with the side art, but most importantly, if you're gonna play a lot of two player games, it'll give you more room.

That sounds cool

I've got a WOW Mini with Factory Side Art on it.....Going rate around here is only $200-$400. I think I paid $300 off Ebay for it 2 years ago.

Thanks for the update. That sounds pretty sweet, I have not seen a mini with side art yet. I am a little on the fence. I basically have been offered both the upright and cabaret in trade for my Killer Instinct II. The upright is in amazing shape, and the cabaret is in very good shape as well. My KI II is immaculate, but I cannot get it into my basement since it is the dedicated Midway cab, and I can't make the 90 degree turn to go down the stairs.
I figure I will sell one of the WoW and keep the other one. But still not sure it is a good trade to make. Sounds like even if I sold them both I would not really get to where I think this KI II is worth, but I guess if I get some cash back for selling one and still have a nice classic I am in good shape. I don't have a cabaret currently, so I am kind of leaning towards keeping that one, but I am going to check them out and probably pick them up tonight.
